Creating Something Beautiful. The Process of Macrame on Koh Phangan (Thailand)
As I know Steemians love to see the process of art and craft work. So I decided to show you the process of my favorite craft which I mastered when I was 8. I attended macrame classes for one year in school. For many years after that I thought that I would never need this knowledge. But two years ago I saw modern macrame projects and loved them! From that moment I started to create my own modern macrame projects for our family project KNOT living.
These pictures were made during my trip to Thailand (Koh Phangan) by talented photographer Ivan Evsyakov. I will try to tell you more about this process.
First of all I need to choose the material. I love natural cotton and linen ropes and cords for macrame projects. Actually I use only eco-friendly materials for all my projects, not only for macrame.
Next step is to cut the rope into pieces...
and put them to the wooden dowel.
After that I start to make knots. Knot is a basic element in macrame craft. Also KNOT living is a name of our brand and our logo is two knots connected between each other :) When we chose a name for the project, I couldn't even think that I would come back to macrame. I just thought that this is a nice word, for me and my husband it was is a symbol of our love to simplicity and at the same time it was strong connection between us and our home, our family, our life-work. So this is a magical coincidence and I smile everytime I think about it :)
Sometimes I need a coffeebreak :)
Here is the finish of knotting.
And here is the happy person who loves what she do :)

Your work is beautiful! I’ve been wanted to try making something similar to macrame with crochet. Are plant hangers considered macrame?
Thanks a lot! Yes, plant hangers are made in macrame technique - I'll show some of my hangers in future posts! Crochet is amazing too - it gives a lot of ideas what things to create )
