Making a small elephant for my daughter
When I saw this beautiful pattern of a very small crochet elephant. I knew I had to try it. Here’s the link and I show you my process below :
You begin from the trunk. I used a 2.5mm crochet hook. It was very hard to manipulate the small 6-stitch piece in the round. It was so hard I do not think I followed the instructions correctly.
I then rushed to finish the ‘heart shaped' ears in the right blue colour to fulfil my daughter’s request (for her friend). I thought ‘she would accept the eye’, but it was too big so I had no option but to find alternatives.
I hadn’t used this chain for my glasses very much anyway so I didn’t mind ‘extracting’ some of the smaller blue beads - as you can see I can make ‘more eyes’ with the remaining blue beads.
I’m happy with the result and so is my daughter. The final photo below shows the elephant with a red ‘ribbon’ as requested.
If I made another small elephant, I’d make the ears much smaller - the size above is determined by the yarn used. I would also follow the instructions more closely as I improvised quite a bit because it was hard counting the rows.
