Protests against Covid-19 mandates spread from Canada to New Zealand
The city of Ottawa, Canada is under lockdown following countrywide protests dubbed the Freedom Convoy. The Freedom Convoy began on January 9 in western Canada, as truckers protested a rule requiring them to be vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to cross the US-Canada border. The protests have evolved to include opposition to Covid restrictions as well as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government in general.
On Thursday, police in New Zealand arrested 120 people while attempting to forcibly remove hundreds of protesters camped outside Parliament to oppose COVID-19 vaccine mandates and strict coronavirus restrictions. For clarity, here is a comment by one of the protestors; "Kiwis are not dumb. We are losing our jobs and our lives due to these mandates and restrictions,".
