3 Things COVID-19 Provides Cover For
As Americans fight each other for toilet paper and the world becomes ever more fearful by the day, it's important to keep in mind that there were other things happening on Earth before news media began pumping out virus-mania 24/7.
Note: I'm not saying the virus isn't real or that it isn't a threat, although someone will surely claim I did say that. In some circles, you can't even question the level of fear or suggest that anything insane is going on without being derided and called insane yourself (or worse – someone will say that Trump got into your head and you only question any of this because you must have read one too many Presidential Tweets).
All that aside, let's take a look at three things this virus hysteria has distracted us from (quite conveniently for those in power, I might add).
1) Global Uprising
Informally dubbed "GIABO" by Max Keiser, short for Global Insurrection Against Banker Occupation, there have been a number of large-scale, historic protests happening all over the world. From the Yellow Vests in France to the Hong Kong protestors and many locations in Latin America and more, citizens of the world have been taking to the streets to "fight the power."
Of course, now that large gatherings have been banned by most national governments, all of this has come to a halt. How fortunate for any government trying desperately to hold onto its power and cope with an ever-more discontent populace.
Note that this describes most governments on the planet today, as people become more aware of the fact that those in power don't actually have their best interest in mind.
Along this same line of thought, some new-age spiritual types like to say there was a sort of awakening happening.
They call it a "raising of consciousness" or a "higher-frequency" trend developing, or something like that. The idea is that humanity was trending toward greater freedom from oppression and rising into a higher vibrational state (I'm not sure what that means but it sounds pretty cool).
Well, so much for that.
Now that the world has been gripped by fear to the point of not even going to the movies, it's safe to say that rising into higher dimensions of consciousness has been put on hold for now. I don't imagine it's possible to stop such a thing in the long run, but again, the timing is just too convenient to contemplate.
2) Economic Collapse
Many, many people have been aware that for a long time, the economy has been in shambles. Yes, asset prices have climbed during that past 11 years following the financial crisis of 2008. But during this time, the real economy that you and I have to live and survive in has crumbled. Everyone knows this, even if only on an intuitive level.
90% of people have been struggling for the last decade while 10% have excelled (these are approximate figures, feel free to correct me in the comments). Meanwhile, the level of debt in the system has never been higher.
To say that the global economy has become a house of cards might be an understatement. There aren't even any cards there – it's more like a mime who only imagined there was even a table for the house to be built on in the first place.
The entire financial system died in 2008. It has been kept alive through the printing of funny money, termed "quantitative easing."
And now, with interest rates back at zero again (ZIRP) in America, it's obvious that this has become the new normal. But did this just happen as a result of anything going on right now?
The narrative has become one of "emergency response." In response to the virus, or so it goes, the Fed just had to lower interest rates to support the economy. Or did they?
Many have argued for years now that the Fed would have to lower interest rates back to zero (or negative) at some point regardless of any external factors. And looking at the simple facts, it's obvious this has always been the case.
You can't have a global debt pile in the quadrillions (including derivatives) and have any normalizing of interest rates without bursting that bubble in a big way.
Here we have yet another example of how the virus just happens to provide the perfect cover for something that had to happen anyway. Whereas before, in the pre-virus world, going back to ZIRP would have been an admission of defeat by global central banks, now it looks like some kind of heroic last-ditch effort to save the economy that they ruined in the first place.
How convenient.
3) – Biosphere Collapse
This one really is the bottom line and is too in-depth to cover in much detail here. The environment is also collapsing, and there's no way of hiding that for much longer.
Crop failures all over the world, historic droughts and floods, record thawing permafrost and polar ice cap melting, extreme weather events that used to be once a century are now once a decade or year...the list goes on and on. And while most of us in first-world countries have a sense of normalcy, billions of people around the world have already been victims of the planet struggling to survive.
This last point ties in with the previous two in that one of the things people have been protesting is the failing environment, and the biosphere collapse necessitates an economic collapse. You can't have a functioning economy without a functioning ecology.
The majority of global GDP comes from the exploration, extraction, transport, and refinement of natural resources. With the Earth's resources dwindling, and human activities taking an ever-greater toll on her capacity to support us, the economy can't hold out for much longer.
By now you're starting to see how it all comes together. How did we get here?
It sounds conspiratorial, but you have to ask the question: "is this whole thing being used as an excuse by those in power to try and maintain their power until the last possible moment?" Because when you put things into that context, it all starts to make a whole lot more sense.
The panic, the financial market volatility, the constant news coverage, the tyrannical actions of governments, the distraction from everything that was happening before all of this (you do remember you had a life before, right?).
Now, if you'd like to criticize all of this by saying I'm not taking something seriously and that I've been smoking something, go right ahead.
