Edit 7/9/21: both of my kids and I are fully vaccinated with Pfizer-BioNTech's vaccine. Reactions were mild, with me only having a sore arm, and my daughter getting headaches and being tired. My doctor has informed me that the Delta (Indian) variant is hitting the young, unvaccinated people the worst and, although vaccinated people sometimes get it, the results are less harsh.

Today, 4/29/21, I got the 1st shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, and I will receive the 2nd dose next month.

I'm in a low-risk group, and so are my kids. In fact, overall, healthy children are the least at-risk of developing CoViD-19 after being infected by SARS-CoV-2 (SARS2).

Why did I get vaccinated?

1. There is a much higher chance that I will get infected by the various strains of SARS2 if I don't get vaccinated.
2. This means that there is a higher risk of getting CoViD-19. I'm not interested in that! ;)
3. I care about healthcare professionals and I know how terrifying and traumatizing it's been for them, as well as the loss of so many doctors and nurses globally.
4. I care about those people who are high-risk and don't want to accidentally make them suffer.
5. Health edicts related to CoViD-19 are unlikely to apply to me as they will with non-vaccinated people.
6. In order to naturally achieve immunity to SARS-CoV-2, I would have to be infected with multiple variants of the virus before I would be immune to all variants. These vaccines should, in theory, create immunity to all variants.
7. My risk of getting infected by SARS2 will likely be 0%. Even if I get infected, my risk of developing CoViD-19 is decreased.

Yale University reports:

Pfizer-BioNTech

1. The highest efficacy rate (90-95% after 2 shots, ~80% after only 1).
   1a. 2 shots 21 days apart.
2. 2nd lowest rate of immune system responses.
   2a. Common reactions: Chills, headache, pain, tiredness, and/or redness and swelling at the injection site. Usually ends in 1-2 days. Seek medical attention if they don't after 72 hours.
3. It doesn't put the virus in my body, meaning I have NO risk of getting the virus from the vaccine. It uses m-RNA tech. Ask your Biology teacher if you slept through RNA and DNA. ;P

   Approved for 16 years and older. Proof of safety for kids 12-15 has been submitted.

Moderna

1. The second highest efficacy (90-94% after 2 shots, although the elderly have a lower efficacy of ~86%).
   1a. 2 shots, 28 days apart. Approved for 18 and older.
2. 2nd lowest rate of immune system responses.
   2a. Common reactions: chills, headache, pain, tiredness, and/or redness and swelling at the injection site, which end 1-2 days later. Seek medical help after 72 hours if they persist.
3. It doesn't put the virus in my body, meaning I have NO risk of getting the virus from the vaccine.
   Risks: anaphylaxic reaction (life-threatening allergic reaction, which is treatable with epinephrine), although I don't have the actual statistics. It should be comparable to Pfizer since they use the same m-RNA technology.
   

Johnson & Johnson

1. The lowest efficacy rate (currently estimated to be only 65-72%).
   1a. One shot. J&J is researching to see if having 2 shots is more effective. Approved for 18 and older.
2. Lowest rate of immune system responses.
   2a. Common reactions: Fatigue, fever headache, injection site pain, or myalgia (pain in a muscle or group of muscles), which end after 1-2 days. Seek medical attention after 72 hours.
3. It uses a different technology commonly referred to as a "trojan horse;" which means that a harmless adenovirus is used to carry the genetic code of the part of SARS2 that attacks so that the immune system can learn to defeat it.
   Risks: According to my doctor, about 13 out of 1.5 million recipients have had a blood clotting disorder after getting this. In other words, you're twice as likely to be struck by lightning!

Over 90 MILLION Americans have received one brand of the vaccine. 580 MILLION humans have received one dose. About 1 BILLION people worldwide have been vaccinated. Thus, claims by The Epoch Times that the vaccines have killed almost 1,000 people are unprovable, since VAERS doesn't provide that data and ANYONE can submit data. "Kent Woods, former chief executive of the U.K. Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, previously told Newsweek that a person suddenly dying after having a vaccine is not proof that the vaccine caused the death." For all 3 vaccines, what reactions and how strong they are vary from person to person. Some people have no reactions.

Please remember that NO vaccine works for everyone and, thus, a risk of contracting SARS-CoV-2 if your immune system doesn't respond correctly to the vaccine does exist. In other words, about 5% of people who get Pfizer or Moderna will still be vulnerable, whereas 35% of J&J recipients will. Currently, the rate of non-immunity following being vaccinated is ~0.008%. Various sources state that the efficacy of all vaccines is lower in the very old and infirm, which means that the risk of failure and complications is higher than in the rest of the population.

Consult an immunologist or epidemiologist before having a SARS2 vaccine administered to someone who is very old and in poor health, as well as younger people who have serious health problems.

Breakthrough infections happen when someone's vaccination fails to provide immunity to SARS2, leading to infection and the appearance of CoViD-19. The rate of failure is different depending on the product used, the age of the patient, and other health factors.

"Of the breakthrough infections, 29% were asymptomatic, 40% were in fully vaccinated people over 60, a demographic in which vaccines are often less effective."

Bottom line, there have been >32 MILLION cases of COVID-19 and >571,000 deaths in the US since Jan. 21, 20. That means that of >332 MILLION people in the US, 9.6% have been infected and developed CoViD-19 and, of those 1.8% died. That means .17% of Americans have died from the disease caused by SARS2! I think it's far, far, FAR safer to risk the vaccine (virtually ANY vaccine, actually) than to risk the disease it prevents!

Why Don't You Get It?

Possible reasons:

1. Your doctor has stated that the risks outweigh the possible immunity because of serious health problems you have.
2. Your religion doesn't allow vaccinations.
3. You believe that there's a conspiracy, and that the vaccines are fake and the contents are either a tracking device or medicine to control you. (false)
4. You have been told that it's bad, dangerous, fake, and/or not trustworthy. (false)
5. You suffer from paranoia.
6. You have been told that the virus and/or the disease it causes are not real. (false)
7. You don't believe you need it because you're very healthy.
8. Your religious leader has promised that you won't contract the virus because God is protecting you. (false)
9. You can't afford it.
10. You don't live where it is available.
11. You are afraid of the brand that is available.
12. The brand available to you isn't highly efficacious (>90%).
13. You are waiting so that others who need it more can get it first.
14. You are waiting to see what happens to everyone who gets it before you decide.
15. You feel that the vaccines haven't been tested enough and are thus concerned about problems that haven't yet been discovered. (false)
16. As a sign of solidarity for the billions who don't have access to the vaccine, you are not getting vaccinated until the world attends to the needs of all the poor nations that can't afford it.
17. You are a criminal on the run.
18. Your parents refuse to let you, even though you want it.
19. You are too young.
20. You are very old and fear your body may not be strong enough.
21. Someone told you that "lots" of people are being sickened and killed by the vaccines. (false)
22. Someone told you that once you get the vaccine, you have SARS2 and are infectious for 2 weeks. (false)

I'm sure there are many more reasons. I've heard a lot of false information about the virus, disease and vaccine. You can use the number of the reason(s) above that apply to you in your comment if you like.
