SLC | S21W6 | Costos para emprendedores - Estructura de costos
Assalamualaikum |
---|
It's nice to be able to meet friends in this course and the fun thing is that we are prepared with several questions. I will try to answer them one by one, hopefully they are right on target.
✅What is cost structure and how important is it for business? |
---|
After reading the description above, I think the cost structure is a collection of fixed costs and variable costs that we calculate from the total amount of expenditure in detail in a business for the sake of running a successful business.
To get satisfactory results for a business, of course you have to know the cost structure first by recording all sources of expenditure so that we know how to get profit from the product.
A business or company that uses a cost structure will certainly make the business more focused and can protect against losses because the success or profit from the product is certainly guaranteed and at that time we will be ready to compete in the market.
✅Provide an example of a business that uses the cost structure method described; Justify your answer. |
---|
There are actually many cost structure methods, one of which is a grocery store that I own that I am currently working on. I record all my expenses and compare them to determine a price for a product so that I can easily estimate the profit from the product.
I deliberately do not spend fixed costs like employees, I control everything myself from incoming and outgoing goods units so that it is easy for me to determine the price of the product to be sold and be ready to compete with normal prices and the lowest promotional prices and be aware of market price destroyers.
✅What are the elements of cost structure? Give examples. |
---|
In this case, I will take the important things and according to my experience and this is often found in companies or businesses to get real benefits.
- Fixed costs
Fixed costs are one of the costs that must be prepared before starting a business and after starting the business so that these expenses continue to run until the time limit, whether we are making a profit or vice versa, even though we are making a loss or even going bankrupt.
For example, when I opened my shop "BARAQAH CELL" long before, I had already paid a rental fee of 16,000,000 for 4 years, around 3,400 steem according to the current upbit market, and this is a risk, whether the business will run or not, we still have to pay first.
- variable costs
In my experience, this fee is a fee that has no guarantee, sometimes it is appropriate, sometimes it is not appropriate, it can even disrupt customer comfort and this fee cannot be controlled because the market changes, so it is difficult to predict with certainty.
For example, I am in a shop providing internet cards with various providers such as Telkomsel cards, IM3 cards, XL cards, Axis cards, and Smartfren cards in November 2024 I got a subsidized price from the card office to sell at a cheaper price and customers were comfortable while at the beginning of December 2024 the card price was more expensive 5,000 around 1 steem and customers were disappointed so it was very difficult to guess
So based on this experience, we have to be wiser and of course we use this cost structure to manage our business well so that we don't incur losses.
✅Create a cost structure for a business dedicated to baking. The company produces 5 cakes per day and expects to earn a total profit margin of 25%. |
---|
To find out the 25% profit, of course we have to know the capital first, after that we add the capital by 25% and the result will be the selling price.
Materials | Unit | Price |
---|---|---|
Butter | 250 grams | $0.50 |
Sugar | 250 grams | $1 |
Flour | 150 grams | $0.50 |
Eggs | 6 eggs | $2 |
Chocolate powder | 50 grams | $1 |
Total cost for 5 cake units | $5 |
The details are that one unit of cake is $1 if five cakes are made per day, the total is $5 in 5 x 30 days, the total number of cakes per month is 150 units.
Type of Cost | monthly cost | number of units per month | joint unit cost |
---|---|---|---|
Delivery | $600 | 150 | $4 |
Worker | $1.200 | 150 | $8 |
Other costs | $150 | 150 | $1 |
Total cost | $1,950 | 150 | $13 |
The breakdown is one unit of cake $1+$13=$14
Then how to get a profit of 25% of the capital price plus a profit of 25% of the selling price of the cake
$1+$13=$14
$14×$0.25=$3.5
$14+$3.5=$17.5
After looking at the details we conclude that to make a 25% profit we have to sell for $17.5 per unit.
This is my participation in this interesting theme I invite friends to attend @artist1111 @solaymann @ikwal
Greetings @itikna09
1.- You have shared the concept and importance of the cost structure for the enterprise, highlighting that it allows to control the resources invested in a productive process.
2.- You have mentioned acceptable examples of companies that adjust to the cost structure methods. You have provided the description of each of these methods, allowing the analysis of all the costs involved.
3.- You have presented the elements of the cost structure, with their respective examples; these allow us to identify the expenses in each functional area of the company.
4.- You have developed the proposed exercise acceptably, performing in detail each of the calculations. We would have liked to see a little more analysis of the results.
Thanks for joining the contest
Thank you very much for the visit and verification, happy to be able and participate and also learn, hopefully it will be useful
