Costa Rica: the culture of the "pobrecitos"
One of the social and cultural aspects that I hate most of my country, is the culture of the "pobrecito".This mentality, disguised as kindness and a little pity, is used in fields as different as politics and education; even affecting the lifestyle of the population.
In the day to day it is not taught that we should strive to achieve our goals. We live in a state of "well-being" prolonged, without being given to personal improvement the importance it deserves. It does not matter if you do not have money or education or yes, we can all be a "pobrecito", if we put effort in it.
As long as we have food and health, everything is fine, right? Not at all. Providing financial aid to people at social risk is of no use, if there is no education in between; For such aid to be really beneficial. But certain people and movements will do everything possible to prevent this from happening, in exchange for a few blind votes on Elections Day.
