So As the summer season of Cosplay is coming up I would like to talk about some of the Experiences of them.

The things you tend to learn on the way. Firstly being originally morbidly obese Thought being big was a major problem. (if you going a shop for a costume at Halloween you can guess the issues). After Getting a gastric bypass surgery. And losing a lot of weight I felt body confident. However I learnt your size doesn’t matter.

Secondly how non cosplayers tend to threat you. One thing I’ve found there is an amazing community out there. We support each other ,regardless of body type however sadly the same cant be said for some non cosplayers. Myself and others I know in the community tend to suffer abuse even as I was losing the weight I got message and people shouting Fatman or telling me to go on a diet. But I know of other peoplewho dressed as comic book scifi and film characters being called freeks normally by young men or people wondering out of pubs. It be upsetting sometimes as we are there because of our hobby some are with families others have issuses like myself and use Cosplay as a way to empower ourselves.

Thirdly there is money unless your a fantastic crafter good costumes cost money to make I hear how many people can spend thousands on pre made costumes on ebay .if you are a crafter even your stuff cost money and all for that movie actuate batarang you spent a fortune to make.

So we now come the day of an event its all excitement if you don’t drive then your the question is do I get a taxi or get dressed in the toilet for the event. As some people wont understand why Loki is on the 62 going to an event or on the train. Next your at the event you are like a great at Christmas as they booked your an actor from fave flim or TV show you pose for photos talk to the friends to make in community. Then about half an in you realise why latex was a bad idea in the winter its great and the likes of Coannon are turning blue in the cold and you are toasty however in the summer you are sweating so much that half your budget gets spent of drinks to stop yourself passing out.
(I saw a guy dressed as Raphael from tmnt who looked like he was going to pass out)
Then there is the costume contest where you get to show off all your blood (and this point a lots of ) sweat and tears. We get our group photo and order your taxi home or to the train station bags filled with collectibles signed photos. So your finally home still on a high from the event and peel off your costume which by now has become a second skin do to the sweating. Remove your make up which by now looks like your a monster in a horror flim (also due to sweating) Take a shower or bath as you stink. (again due to sweating) Then go on social media looking for photos of the event. And talk to the people where there about how good it was. Then the days after you get the come down as your back in the real world however. At least there another event soon time start prepaying for that.
