Corvin Castle - The Castle where "Vlad the Impaler", known as Vlad Dracula was held prisoner
Corvin Castle is also known as Hunedoara Castle one of the largest castles in Europe from Romania.
Construction began in 1446.
There is a fountain in the castle yard that was dug by 3 Turkish prisoners to whom liberty was promised if they reached water, but after 15 years of hard work they completed the well and found water, but their captors did not keep their promise, they killed them. One of the Turkish prisoners wrote an inscription on the wall of the well that says "you have water, but not soul".
The castle has been featured in the video game Age of Empires II HD The Forgotten.
There is a Bear Pit, where prisoners were thrown to be mauled to death by wild animals.
Vlad the Impaler was held prisoner because he wrote some letters to the Turkish sultan and he was considered a traitor.
