Can blockchain technology help help us fight against government embezzlement?

Hi,my name is Kelvin. I am fairly new to blockchain technologies , however what i do understand is that one of the goals blockchain technologies is to develop a decentralized economy which hopefully will help us fight against governments which manipulate currencies and the monopolies which certain companies have over certain services.

Coming from an African country i must say that the level of government level corruption in some of the countries on this continent is astounding.Ridiculously astonishing actually.The corruption ranges from shady dealings up to and including embezzlement.There are so many cases where government officials in government banks and government co-operations of certain countries have embezzled millions of dollars from their clients,where their client-el list includes the average young person all the way retirees.The degree of corruption in some cases so blunt that it is just sickening. Unfortunately there is so much corruption in some of these countries that the embezzlers will never be prosecuted , unfortunately that means that they will keep on embezzling more and more funds from descent, hardworking people who will continue to suffer despite their hard work.

Anyway , the point of my post or the question really is that if we can have a decentralized system in which we can transact would that no solve some of these kinds of problems (embezzlement). If i am not handing my life savings to a government co-operation whose managers could in essence steal my it without any consequence on their end but rather allowing it to flow through a decentralized system,does this not solve the corruption problem.

This post is not all that well though out and i suspect that there are many things i haven't yet considered,for example it may still be possible for some other companies to be corrupt even if we were using a cryptocurrency to transact.My hope is that maybe someone can clarify this idea , or even just the question as to weather blockchain technology was designed to combat such problems.
