How to Cook Steaks in a Cast Iron Skillet
For our first cooking blog on Steemit we want to show you how we cook steaks in a cast iron skillet. Steaks are always the best cooked on a charcoal grill, but when the weather is bad or you just don't feel like setting up your grill, this is a great way to get that steak on your plate fast. You will not be disappointed.
We used two New York Strips we found on sale at the local grocery store. These steaks are about 3/4" think and all the instructions cover a steak about that thick, but there really is no big variance if your steaks are thicker or thinner. Just extend the cook time if you like your steak more well done....or cut the time if you like it bleeding.
Pre-season your steaks with whatever you like. Even salt and pepper will give you a good taste, but get creative with how you season your meat.
Heat your skillet and drizzle olive oil and butter to cover the skillet surface.
Place your steaks in the pre-heated skillet and cook for 4 minutes on each side.
Then place the skillet in your oven which is pre-heated to 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Serve and enjoy.
