Managing Anger
There was once a small boy. This young man had trouble managing his rage. Even if it hurt people, he would say anything came to mind when he was angry.
His father gave him a hammer and some nails one day and instructed him to drive a nail into the backyard fence whenever he felt angry.
The boy used up half of the nails in the first few days. He used fewer nails over the following weeks until his rage was under control. The young boy was then instructed to remove a nail for every day that he did not lose his temper by his father.
The boy's father commended him on a job well done on the day he pulled out his final nail. Yet, can Are the holes in the wall visible? The fence will never be the same again. In the same way, hurtful words spoken in a fit of rage will leave a mark.
