RE: Finish the Story Contest - WEEK #20
The senior officer would have continued but was interrupted by a loud disturbing roar. The immediate shock-wave overwhelmed those present and all the contents of the tent. Perhaps the battle was not completely over.
Everyone turned towards the Black Star to see if that was where the roar came from but Xarag was gone. Another loud roar rang thru the darkness and the men were able to make out a silhouette crawling amongst the fallen soldiers, devouring the limp bodies, as if they were gummy worms. This creature was on a mission, eat as much flesh as possible. It hadn't even looked up from the carcases to notice the campsite yet. A softer roar came from behind a huge rock, and the creature headed towards the rock. The young officer ran to a higher vantage point and watched as the large creature fed her baby, as if it was a little bird, arms and legs spilling from the younger creature's mouth, because it couldn't keep up with it's mother. She just lapped those body parts back up, and spit them back into the youngsters mouth. When she was satisfied that her baby was full, she went back to eating more of the battlefield warriors torn bodies. The young officer could make out Xarag's helmet as the moon rose higher in the sky. Black Star stood motionless against the backdrop of a huge Cypress, his body still mending from the battle before. As the creature ventured closer to Xarag, he contemplated when he was going to strike. Soon it would be light, and he would lose the cover of darkness. The creature was getting closer and surely all the gorging of these dead soldiers, should slow her down. As the creature passed right in front of Xarag, he leaped towards the creature, but the baby creature bit Black Stars leg, and he got no distance. The huge creature turned and bit Xarag's head off, helmet and all, then spit it to the ground. Watching what had transpired, the young officer ran back to camp, but everyone was gone. The senior officer left a note, "we went to see the Queen, start your scratching young squire."
What a ignominious ending for the great hero! Your stories are always bitter humor, I can nearly see your grin.
But... I have to admit, I don't get the meaning of "start your scratching"...
Tip!
😜
Oooh yeah! I forgot this line! ;) This would be probably his last scratch!

Hahah I liked it a lot! This creature could be a flesh demon, summoned by the gruesome unreal concentration of dead corpses.. to say the truth I believe that polished and expanded a bit more your idea could be between the best ones. Super Bruni strikes again 😎👍
