"Are you serious?" Sam looked me up and down. "You honestly think it'll work?"
"Would I bring crutches if I didn't? Don't even ask how I got them," I said. I knew he'd ask, so I quickly shoved them in the back seat and shut the car door. I got in the passenger seat and lit a cigarette.
"The best way to avoid suspicion is to draw attention to a particular detail," I said between puffs. Sam just drove.
"You've crazy, man," he muttered.
"Maybe," I said. "Maybe I am."

"The local bank was apparently robbed today by a man on crutches," the news anchor said on the radio with an obvious tone of surprise in her voice. "It is still unclear how he was able to evade the police that arrived at the scene within just minutes!"
I was laughing like a maniac when Sam threw the crutches from the car window mid-drive, still sweating from the adrenaline rush. We were on some dead-end street in the middle of nowhere, with twenty grand in a bag under my seat, and not a single police car on our tail.
