PRESIDENTIAL RACE: @scrooger’s VOTERS REGISTRATION

The contest is now live and all the voters (aka followers) are advised to register in order to participate in the giveaway for a chance of winning some SBD (if their candidate gets elected as the President, see the previous post for details). We have decided to double the number of lucky voters who will win some SBD, whether their candidate wins (150% of the winning post’s SBD payout) or loses (50% of the losing post’s SBD payout).

It is very easy to participate in the giveaway: all you have to do is to leave a comment with a hashtag under this post. If you are going to vote for me, leave a hashtag #ScroogerForPresident in your comment below. And if you are going to vote for @oleg326756, head over to his Voters Registration Station and leave a comment with #OlegForPresident. The cool thing about this contest is that you can vote for both candidates (unlike in real life, obviously), in order to show your support and maximise yours chances of winning some SBD, if your candidate is elected President. (Even the losing candidate’s voters will have a chance of winning some SBD, as we explained in this post).

One important thing to remember is that only the followers are eligible to register as voters and participate in the giveaway. Thus, if you are commenting under this post with #ScroogerForPresident, make sure you are a follower of mine. (Likewise, if you are leaving a comment with #OlegForPresident under his post, make sure you are @oleg326756’s follower). Otherwise your registration will not count. You will still be able to upvote the upcoming ELECTION WEEK POST, but you won’t participate in the SBD giveaway. In this regard, it is very similar to the ‘Feed Your Minnows’ series.

Unlike in real world, where most elections usually happen in one single day, here on Steem the voting stations will stay open during the entire week. Early next week the voting will officially kick-off and both candidates will publish their campaign manifestos. All the voters will be able to cast their votes for either – or both! – candidates by upvoting their respective posts during the week. Once both posts have received a payout one week later, the votes will be counted and the author of the post with the greatest number of upvotes will be proclaimed the next President.

The loser (author of the post with the smaller number of upvotes) will transfer 50% of his post’s SBD payout to the President-elect. The latter will then give away 100% of his own post’s SBD payout plus 50% of the runner-up’s payout to 20 randomly picked followers – but only from those who have completed the voters registration. The runner-up will give away the remaining 50% of his post’s SBD payout to 10 randomly picked followers of his own (again, chosen among those who have completed voters registration). You see now why it is so important to register as a voter.

The voters registration is now open and will stay open until the voting booths close at the end of the election week. Go ahead and register, voter! The fate of the Republic is in your hands! And remember: under our crazy rules, anyone can win something – if not power, then money. ;)
