That should have been a solid three points on the board last night but despite twenty-two shots on goal and sixty-five percent possession, we just couldn't get that winning goal. At least our makeshift defence was pretty solid.

Villa sit mid-table on a very unspectacular four points. The loss of Grealish and the bedding in of their new, close season signings is taking a little time but in theory, they ought to have a half decent side.

Their last outing at Chelsea was a good game, they were right in the mix for most of the game and we saw signs of what they could be capable of given a little more time. The 3-0 score line in no way reflected Villa's performance and they will rue their missed chances. The return of Argentina pair Emiliano Martinez and Emiliano Buendia are certainly going to boost their hopes of taking something against a rejuvenated Everton who have made a strong start to the season under Benitez.

Everton might just struggle today through the absence of Calvert-Lewin, Fabien Delph and James Rodriguez. They are sitting proudly on ten points in fourth along but had to really fight back after going a goal behind at Burnley.

Andros Townsend has been like a man reborn this season and if he continues in that vein today, he could cause Everton some real problems.

On paper, this ought to be a really good game and very difficult to predict but let's give it a go.

The Small Print

In the first goal scorer competition, own goals do not count. In the correct score competition, it's the score after 90mins. Extra time and penalties do not count.
