STACH short story contest #27.
The great Peter of the bets, that's how Peter Harrison was called in the bars he used to frequent, in those places he used to earn a few dollars that would give him the opportunity to pay for that old motel on St. Louis Street, all his nights were good , he knew that he had three opportunities to earn money, the first was betting with cards or the pool, the second was cheating his opponents and the third was killing them. Any of the three could happen at any time, the important thing was not to return without money.
One rainy night, Peter began to drink, and a gentleman of about 60 with a hat and jeans invites him to play a game of poker, the entrance was $ 50,000. Peter did not count on that amount and cheats the old man telling him that the money was in his car, that at the end of the game he was going to look for them. The gentleman accepts the deal.
Advances the game nothing painted in favor of Peter, until it was time for the last game and bet everything relying on his cards, three A's two in hand and one at the table, the old man had royal flush, and beats Peter, the Two first options were already gone, the winning and swindling, as it was an old man decides to let him live and flee the place. When it comes out of that old bar it was raining, it slips and falls, in that moment the old man stands in front and aims with his pistol and demands his money ...
At that moment Peter takes out his gun and tries to shoot the old man when he realizes that the gun had no bullets, he had forgotten to carry it. The old man answers: "You have one more chance to give me the money or I'll kill you" Peter smiles and replies: "Kill me because the three options I had today were exhausted and since I have no more plans I think that today the plan you decide you..."
A bullet came out of the Magnum 44 right in Peter's forehead to end his life and his three options each night.
