Hello there! Welcome to our digital spaceship castle.

Welcome back peoples.
We are now 1/4 of the way through the second season.. Time sure does fly sometimes!

Unfortunately the last couple rounds had a pretty low turnout, I probably should have waited till later in the game to do those rounds..
But.. I wanted to have a song to listen to before the season finished and I thought the find more players round might help us bring in more players, which.. It probably did.. It looks like we got at least one new player! And.. Even if no one had joined directly from the entries players submitted I've been inspired to go reach out to new steemians on the #introduceyourself tag much more often and I think that will likely help!

I also still should do a few radio shows to help get the word out and try to reach more people on other social media like Facebook as well.
I'm just so supremely overwhelmed and admittedly a bit nervous about doing the radio shows, though I still plan on doing them hopefully in the next couple weeks or sooner.. Just need to get some important things done in my personal life first and build up a bit more courage. :)

I think things will pick up in time and I'm not too worried about it, things have been really slow on steem in general and I have a feeling in time bitcoin will rise again and the whole market will and people will come flocking back and hopefully steem continues to grow to rival other major social media in the future and things will be very active again someday.

Even if that didn't happen, I'm personally happy even with just a small amount of players. I try not to get too caught up on the details and try to just enjoy the experience for what it is. :) And it is a massively enjoyable thing for me to be a part of even with just a few players.

Oh and since we still haven't even finished judging round 2, feel free to work on or get in any late entries for the last two rounds.
Anyways.. On to the next quest!

quest.png

The subject of our fifth quest is going to be a "Choose Your Own Adventure" quest.

I'm going to include 3 topics for you to choose from and if you want you can create your own topic and you don't have to do one of the ones I listed.

Also if you want you can do all 3 topics I listed and create your own as well if you're feeling really brave or you can just pick one or any combination of such, essentially you can enter whatever you want and I'm going to provide 3 topics I'd like to see more research on if you are one of the kinds of people who have trouble thinking of content and want help with some direction.

The 3 topics I'm giving you are...

D'jedhi.
Auld Lang Syne.
Morgellons Disease.

These are all pretty fringe subjects and that's one reason I picked each one, because they are a bit more difficult than average to learn about since there's not as much information out there on the internet about them as many other subjects in the world.

I learned about all these subjects in a conspiracy theory sense, so in one way or another they are all related to conspiracy theories even if they may not seem so at first.

I've personally learned some really fascinating things from each subject and I know I'm only scratching the surface of each subject with the research I've done, so if you decide to pick any of the subjects I have a feeling I will be learning some interesting new things!
Hopefully anyways. :) Cause I love learning interesting new things!

And remember, if none of those subjects interest you much, or if you just want to go in another direction anyways, you can do that.. This is a choose your own adventure round and you can go in pretty much whatever direction you would like!
Cheers and good luck!

So far we have received support and 10steem from @underground and I have confirmed that @ats-david and @krnel and @timcliff and @steemcommunity will also be supporting us again this season.

Underground, ats-david, krnel, timcliff, and steemcommunity are all witnesses, so if you support what we are doing here at the IFC please look into them and give them a vote for witness as well. By the way to vote for ats-david you should vote for his @ats-witness account.

Also it looks like @ecoinstar will donate 100 shares of steembasicincome to the winner of the grand prize!
And thanks to @bengy for delegating 25 steem. :)
A special thanks as well to @davemccoy and @newbiegames and @newbieresteemday who are not technically sponsors but we have worked with them in the past. Looks like newbiegames and newbieresteemday have been inactive for months though we still use their tags for the time being.

The challenge will finish after 7 days when the post ends and provides its payout cycle or when all entries have been submitted.

25% of the post payout goes to curation and after that what's left will now be split up 75% to the winner of the round and 25% to put towards building up the @ifc account.

For those who play via email.. This will be recorded and saved for you, and.. If you're unwilling to make your own steem account we will at some point be willing to convert it for you to whichever currency however.. Not for small amounts, you must earn at least 10 steem for us to take the time to do this for you.

  1. Create a blog post on steem for the contest or send an email if you are playing via email.

  2. Title of blog post or subject of email must contain, "IFC S2R5"

  3. Leave a link to your post in the comments below unless you are playing via email in which case myself or someone else will do so. (This part is important and a lot of people forget this, please put the blog link in the right place so our judges can find it)

  4. And you also have to use the #ifc tag in your blog post as well unless you are playing via email.

  5. You must accept that if you somehow get hurt doing any of our quests you can not reasonably hold us accountable. You must take responsibility for your own choices and actions in life. This is a voluntary game where you choose to play. Only you can make such decisions for yourself.

PS.. If you'd like to be a part of the community in some way but don't want to play in the game, we're still looking for a few regular judges and always looking for guest judges and sponsors.

Please feel free to resteem or share this blog post on any social media to help get the word out to more people who might want to play! <3 Thank you.

Also if you want to be notified of each round or updates send an email to [email protected] with the subject "Add to IFC mailing list".

Plus here's a YouTube video I made on the subject of the IFC that I'm going to include with each round post.

Sort:

Okay, this will be my first try at a more directed writing at a focused topic, I'm stoked to learn so I'm definately trying it out. I will go through those topics to see the one that would interest me the most. I will also go through the guide to see what the judges look for.

However, the rule number 6, i don't quite think I totally get it, can you further explain?

Word! Glad you'll give it a try. :)
To answer your question rule 6 means we at the IFC are not responsible for any tax issues that you have with collecting prize money or when it comes to buying or selling in our Marketplace. It's up to you the individual to keep track of and pay any taxes you may have depending upon the tax laws of where ever in the world you live.

Hope that answers your question and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer!

Lol, all three topics are completely unknown to me. I'll see if I can come up with something, if only the annoying migraine that has been blocking my thoughts for the past couple of days would disappear...

Idk about @newbieresteemday, but after weeks of doubting, I decided to quit @newbiegames a while ago. It was too much work and stress to keep it up next to all my other side projects. Since I was the only member of the team, the account has been dormant since. Occasionally, I speak to people who might be interested in taking over, but so far, no luck.

Heh. Yeah.. They are some pretty fringe subjects from my experience! I knew about Mogellons years ago but the other two I only learned of recently, and Morgellons is believed by some to be related to chemtrails or something like that, so.. I only learned of that cause of other conspiracy theories that are rather fringe as well.

You can come up with your own topic by the way, it doesn't have to be limited to those 3 subjects. You can pick anything this round. One of the other players made a post about his recent job interview so you can do almost anything you want.

Sorry to hear about the migraine! That's a bummer. I woke up with some pretty bad back pain today so I can sort of relate, though at least it's to the point now where I can sit at the computer without too much pain.

Thanks for the info about newbieresteemday and newbiegames! If that's the case I'll probably stop using their tags pretty soon and try to find some tags that might attract or gain the attention of more people. If it's mostly abandoned then it probably won't help much to keep using their tags. That's unfortunate also as it seemed like they performed a useful service on the blockchain though I guess with the low value of steem it's becoming more and more difficult for many people to justify the projects they had going.

Thanks for stopping by and showing some interest in playing! :) No worries if you're unable to enter and the migraine is too much for you right now. I understand and you gotta look after yourself first! I hope you feel better soon!

Wow. I've definitely not heard of these topics. I can see why you said some research will be necessary.

Posted using Partiko Android

Heh.. Yeah. They are all pretty fringe, though pretty fascinating also I think. I look forward to seeing what you and others come up with and I hope you and others learn something new as well! :)

That's great that we got another participant whoop whoop!

Wow those are pretty obscure topics. I had to Google two of them just to see what they were. Hahaha. They sound interesting though. I think I'm up for the challenge :)

Posted using Partiko Android

Indeed! And he's a pretty smart dude too from what I've seen.. He may give everyone a run for their money. :D It's great to get more players, but what's even greater I think is to get quality players! And he seems like a quality one. Like yourself in my opinion, I was thrilled when you joined cause I see you as a quality competitor, you're a great writer as well and so far you've put out some excellent entries. Even if we don't get a lot of players I think it's awesome that we have a few really good quality ones! :)

And yeah, heh.. They are pretty obscure, it's cool you were aware of at least one of them though! Lemme guess, Morgellons Disease? Or..? I'd say that one is probably the most well known out of the 3 in my opinion, but I'm curious to know which one you were already aware of?

Glad to hear you think you're up for the challenge! I'm curious to see which direction you will take if you play. Cheers friend! 👽

I agree with what you said about quality players. I think we have a pretty good group so far :)

I was actually familiar with the song/poem, Auld lang Syne. I actually thought that one was the most common lol. I'm actually starting to wonder though if you're referring to the song because it doesn't seem as obscure as the others?

Posted using Partiko Android

Agreed about the good group so far!
In regards to the Auld Lang Syne thing, I had never heard of it before until recently. At least not that I remember. I suppose it's more common in Europe and in older days, like before I was born. And yes I am referring to the song, however there's a deeper sort of conspiracy behind it. If you type that in with the term Freemason behind it in Google you may find some sites that touch more on that aspect of the deeper conspiracy surrounding it.

Oh sounds interesting. I'll have to check that out. The interpretations that I've read are all pretty standard. Basically thinking, appreciating and remembering days passed so that they are not forgotten. This freemasonry stuff sounds more interesting though

Posted using Partiko Android

Right.. And yeah I think there's a lot of things in our world that have a sort of simple exoteric meaning but an even deeper esoteric mysterious meaning and this one I found some pretty fascinating pictures associated with, I'm pretty sure I even posted one of those pictures in the past here on steem and you may have left a comment on it. It involved some high level political peoples holding interlocked hands. Implying that.. There's a deeper bond between them that superceeds the the public image we all see.

My entry for this week, with the topic of How to Make a Violin Sound like a Frog:

https://steemit.com/ifc/@bengy/how-to-make-a-violin-sound-like-a-frog-ifc-s02r05

Here's an entry from @plushzilla via email. Judges make sure you consider this when you vote for this round.

This week we are celebrating international women's day and I have been working hard on developing a program using origami to improve mental health and well-being, so I thought following the idea of finding information on fringe subjects I would dig up some information on influential female origami artists (by the way, I looked up the three that @apolymask provided and it was hard to get information on them but they were very interesting in their own ways!).

I think at the top of the list would be Tomoko Fuse (布施 知子) – famous for boxes and unit origami, and interestingly enough she first learned origami as a child while in hospital, and I have certainly made a number of her well-known origami models. She continues to invent new models and publish books covering many types of origami models, and is revered in the community as a master of the art.

Miyuki Kawamura began origami at the age of two and it should come as no surprise that she is a well respected folder in Japan and is a board member of the Japan Origami Academic Society, contributing to the art of origami by combining her background in physics to delve into the mathematical side of origami in her publications.

Not all famous origami artists are from Japan, and one of the reasons is that many people from overseas have helped popularize this art outside of Japan. One such person is Ligia Montoya, and although not much is known about her life and work, there were many correspondence with famous and influential origami artists of her generation to ensure that her place in origami history is preserved.

One of the reasons why American has one of the most active origami communities outside of Japan can be attributed to the efforts of origami artists such as Florence Temko, who lectured on the subject as well as publishing many books and even making films about the art. Her association with many museums and organising exhibitions contributed to elevate the status of origami as an art form in the US.

There are many applications of origami in areas like mathematics and physics, but one of the most important aspects is its symbolism of peace and hope. I was fortunate enough to become acquainted with the founder of the Peace Crane Project (https://www.peacecraneproject.org/) Sue DiCicco who helped to author and illustrate the book on probably the most influential origamist of all - Sadako Sasaki, the young girl whose courage and spirit is forever captured in the tradition of making the senbazuru (thousand origami cranes) in the aftermath of the Hiroshima atomic bomb tragedy that affected so many lives to this day.

So I hope you enjoyed this short piece on women in origami on International Women's Day, and make sure that you let the special women in your lives know that you are thinking of them :)

I'm going to start responding to email entries via email and then copy pasting my responses here on steem as well, below is my response to this entry.

Thanks for participating even though you were so busy! That's a really cool entry! I think I've decided I'm going to respond via email to the entries and then perhaps also copy paste my response on the steem page as well.

So.. I never really knew much of anything about the subject you made your entry on, but I see there's quite a bit to it and I tend to love learning about things like this that I didn't know before. I never realized how much history was behind origami and how inspiring and liberating it could be.

Those origami you made for the photo scavenger hunts last season take on a whole new meaning now! And I have a much deeper respect for the artform. It truly is a very deep and rich form of expression and maybe one of these days I'll even try to make my own!

The challenge we're on this week is on "Inspiration" but your origami post really inspired me and gave me some cool things to think about. Thanks for sharing! PS I didn't know it was International Women's day.. I'll try to remember to give my mother a call and have a lil chat with her. Cheers friend!
