Welcome back peoples. :D

Last time we had one of our judges being too busy and this time we had one not responding.
So after waiting a number of days I'm just going to call it.

We have extra judges this time anyway helping from @steemterminal so it's not a big issue.
I hope next season we can find a solution that somehow allows the players to vote, or something like that.

It's been really slow judging this season and maybe if the players themselves vote then we can speed things up.
Or maybe there's another solution. If I could pay more that would help but the judges are basically volunteering that's how low I'm paying.

That's why I don't try to rush them or make this feel like too much work, because they are basically volunteering.
The judges basically get paid 1 steem per round and steem is worth like what 15 cents? smh...

I can't speak for them, but I think they are doing it because they enjoy this community, basically volunteering.
And at this point I don't think I can invest a lot more steem without either diminishing the prizes or something.

I originally planned on spending 1k out of my 5k or so steem that I had on this contest.
Though in all reality at this point I'll probably spend a lot more than that in the long run, especially if we can keep this going many years.

This contest means a lot to me and I want this to be a longterm project so I wanna be careful with my funds.
This is why I think especially that we need to move to a system where the players can vote.

If the players can vote we won't be putting so much pressure on the few judges.
I love judging, but heck... Maybe I could even take a break from judging some rounds if enough players were there to make it work.

I'm not totally sure how it would work as there will become a concern of people forming groups that vote for each other and sort of game the system...
But, I feel like there should be a way to figure something out. Maybe the players coulc take turns voting? I'm not sure... Something to think about!

When the season is over I plan on bringing this issue up for a vote, so I hope you'll think about it and if you have any ideas please lemme know.
Maybe you can think of an even better alternative?

Thanks for your time and bye until next time!

Before we get to the round 7 tie breaker results there was a bonus round between lordless.exile and plushzilla.
lordless.exile got confused and entered the wrong subject matter, but plushzilla did not have the time to even get an entry submitted, so automatic win for lordless.exile

Vote Round 7 tie breaker

apolymask - They were both great entries in my opinion. Shaheerbari's entry was very poetic and deep and leaky20's was just super impressive from a creative and lyrical sense. I would have probably given leaky20 2 points and shaheerbari 1 point, however leaky20 used some questionable images that I'm not sure if they are free to use or not in terms of copyright status. So I'm giving all 3 of my points to shaheerbari.

xomegax - N/A

jamesrussell - I give 2 tokens to shaheerbari and 1 for leaky20's post, and my reasoning is two fold: 1. The story line in the paragraph in shaheerbari's made more sense, and was actually well written, despite the issue he has with self crediting his own photos, 2. While leaky20 was being very coy in using the same letter in the beginning of each word in each sentence, the very last sentence made no sense. It was fairly well written, but my understanding is that that was not a requirement for the post and despite the fact that he did that and was clever, I don't think it was a quality as good as shaheerbari's. leaky20, as far as his sourcing goes was excellent.

britandjosie - i felt that the willy wonka one was quite impressive even though the alst sentence isnt quite right i say that one is best for me so sorry shaheerbari.

chrismadcboy2016 - 2 points to @shaheerbari - I love his message by showing his whole world by using his imagination even if he know that he can't fly but in his minds he can. Likewise I am a dreamer to in my imaginary minds all things happend. 1 point to @leaky20 I dont get it what he trying to say but I think its kind a sort of riddle but I apprecite hes works.

enforcer48 - How do I even vote for this? They are two very different styles. 2 points for Leaky20: that was some impressive alliteration 1 point for Shaheerbarj: I like the poetry. Yeah, it was a hard one.

Total is..

@shaheerbari - 8

@leaky20 - 7

Congrats again shaheerbari! You're on a roll all of a sudden with two wins in a row. And now tied for first place with jbreheny?
The leaderboard is changing quite a bit.

Wins-XP-Level

I was a little unsure about how to do the leaderboard this season without being too confusing, so... I'm going to put those who have won points from season 2 on top, and will keep those from season 1 on the bottom.

I think at the end of the season I will likely combine both season 1 and 2 scores together. If you played in season 1 you still have your exp and items, I'm just showing it this way so it's easier to keep track of who is in their proper ranking place during the new season.

Also if you scored any points so far you are automatically entered into the finals as it only takes 1 point this season to get entered into the finals. Players from last season will not be entered into the finals unless they score at least 1 point during this new season 2.

Sort:

Wow that was a close one. My last sentence really did me in though hahaha. To clarify the story/poem for those interested, the last line was actually supposed to explain everything (it obviously failed though).
Willy Wonka was "white girl wasted" from drinking whiskey. He was so drunk that he instructed his oompa loompas to water the willow trees inside his factory with wine instead of water. Lol Anyway, nice work shaheerbari. Well done.

I was actually thinking about the judging yesterday and agree that we should brainstorm a way for the participants to act as a 3rd judge. So the 3 judges would be 1 - @apolymask, 2- the guest or regular second judge, and 3 - the participants as judges.

A way to work the participant judges would be as follows: participants cannot vote for themselves and participants who do not vote, forfeit their entry for the week. The second part has to be done because a failure to vote for others acts the same as a self vote.

That's my suggestion to get us through the regular season quickly. I think the finals should be judged without participant influence because as you pointed out people can game the system. I'm not sure how final rounds typically go but maybe only do a few final rounds to lessen the burden on judges. Instead of 5-7 rounds do 3 or something. Anyway, those are my thoughts to lessen the burden on judges and speed things along :)

Yup. It was really close! Thanks for clarifying the last sentence, I didn't get that until you mentioned it! That's funny.

I agree with everything you said except I'm not totally sure about the part about people forfeiting their entries if they don't vote? I'm not saying I disagree... I think I just need more time to think about it. That might actually be a really good solution and be the best way to proceed.

And yes, in terms of the finals it should be non players who judge, I agree. Good call.

I'm trying to remember how many rounds we had last season in the finals... Ummm.. Pretty sure there were 4 rounds until we got to the championship 1v1 and then the championship was... Best 2 out of 3 or 3 out of 5? I'd have to go look... But, I will keep that in mind what you suggested.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :D I will make another official post about it sometime in the future where everyone should be able to vote.

Sounds good man. Yeah the forfeiting the vote is a bit harsh but my thought process is that by not voting you are withholding a vote from another person, so if you get a few votes from others and it's a close match then your non vote might tip the scale in your favor. For the regular season it doesnt really matter who wins the rounds though because there isnt much at stake and it's mostly for fun, so really it works either way (letting non voting get a pass or not). Anyway, I trust your judgement. That was just my 2 cents. Have a good Sunday!
