This is it... We've been building up to this all season.. The annanouncement of the Championship round results!
Will there be a tie and will this go on a little bit longer.. Or do we have our first ever Information Finding Champion?

WOW..... I have to save the text I had written up for later because there's no clear winner yet.
We have a tie. With 12 judges! @magicalmoonlight wins in deciding manner the help a beginner round and @youhavewings does similar on the love round giving them each 1 win, and a tie on the pick a quest for you opponent round!
I gotta say.. I didn't expect that, but.. I think it's epic and fitting for our contest which has been full of ties since the very first round.
This was sort of last minute, I was hoping for 13 judges, but one stopped responding and another told me he was too busy. I tried for a long time to find another, and.. Thanks to @enforcer48 we found one who cast a critical vote for magicalmoonlight in the pick a quest for your opponent round in order to bring this to a tie.
I was planning on announcing today either way, and if we didn't find another judge.. Youhavewings would have won.
Also.. I don't think I'll be able to get 12 judges for the tie breaker round. I'll aim for half of that at 6 because I can't afford to pay so much again right away.
If anyone wants to help volunteer to guest judge that will help! Lemme know. Though I "went all out" trying to get 12 judges and I can't afford to do that again so quick right now. Anyways.. Moving on.
Before we start.. I just want to say.. Congratulations to both of our final competitors.. It has been a fierce contest! You both have done wonderful jobs! And whoever ends up winning will be a very worthy Information Finding Champion indeed!
You're both winners in my eyes, though.. Only one can claim the title and the bigger prize.
The subject of this tie breaker round is going to be.. Well.. I need to think about it for a moment.. Hold on. Heh.
Hmmm.... We usually do the tiebreaker round in a similar/related theme as the tie, but.. I'm not really sure how to do that with this one.
At first I was thinking.. Let's ask the audience and IFC community to decide the quest and have them vote and pick what the final round will be about! Which I think would be awesome.. But.. Things are pretty slow in my opinion on steemit and our discord right now, it feels uncomfortably quiet and we might not get a lot of responses quick enough.
So.. I think for this quest.. Instead of choosing a quest for your opponent or the community picking one, I want you to choose your own quest.
And then if there happens to be another tie breaker this round, then we can ask the audience/community to vote for what the next quest is.
Alrighty then.

Pick whatever resonates and pulls at you the most or perhaps whichever you think would give you the best chance of winning! It's up to you what you want to make a post about!
Judges will vote based on the creativity of the quest you pick, and also the content of your blog post/entry as well.

I think you did an amazing job helping @apolymask with the games and keeping us all informed of what was going on, where we stood, and an excellent job as a judge. It all started with a tie, to end in a tie is kind of fitting. It is and has been a wonderful challenge and game.

Lollolool! Are you serious! A tie! I only saw a couple of the finals posting, but they were a really top shelf awesome!
That was pretty much my reaction when I saw the last votes come in! I laughed and was like.. Are you serious? Really? Hahaha. And yeah.. The entries were all pretty top notch! One of them even got a curie. I think that's like curie number 4 or 5 that our competitors have got during the first season.
Oh! And by the way, I'm having a lot of trouble keeping up with my messages but I saw at least part of one of yours from earlier asking about when the next season starts, so if I don't manage to get back and respond to that message the answer is.. I plan on taking around a month break to rest. But I wanna get back at it soon cause I think it's important to do so! So... Probably sometime in the early to mid of October.
Cool, you need a bit of a well needed rest time! When the new season starts up, there seems to be a decent number of new apps that are going to help with keeping up with the judging and competing! I'm toying around with Steempeak at the moment, and it is pretty awesome!
Indeed. For a while there it was just too much. And I still can't keep up with all the messages. But.. I am learning how to manage and handle it better and found some apps for my monitor and phone that are suppose to reduce eye strain by changing the colors at different times.. And.. I sorta feel like it's been helping! :)
And oh? Cool! I actually have been meaning to try Steempeak, and now that you speak highly of it.. Perhaps I should check it out sooner!
I have a feeling the next season will be really interesting just like this one was, and with new upcoming apps like you mentioned and tech, who knows what will happen!
I've been toying with the idea of trying to get the players to somehow incorporate video games or some kind of 3D simulated virtual world into it.
One of the shops in our marketplace has a RPG maker game, that's a start.. Players could make a little RPG game/quest for people... Or something like that.. But yeah! I think there's going to be some really interesting developments! This season we had our own song and so many other things, maybe next season we'll have our own little video games and such? Who knows! :D I'm optimistic and should be neat to see. ._.
Give it a shot... the biggest thing is that it queues up replies (like Fast-reply does) and bookmarking! I'm not sure, maybe it is on their roadmap, but I don't yet see an option to find unreplied comments. That would be useful, rather than trying to remember where they are (although, I guess the bookmark might work for that!). Anyway, I'm still exploring it a bit (there are also multiple account settings), so there may be many other goodies that I haven't yet discovered!
As for eyes, I always use the dark theme (this is something that Steempeak could improve on... it isn't really dark enough, I want jet black!). I have this option on everything that I can (not just Steem), and I find the inverted colours is just perfect for me. No white expanse of glare!
I'm loving it so far!! This makes things feel soooo much smoother. I haven't noticed the chop I noticed earlier when making my first post. Do you know if it notifies you when you get mentioned? Or is there an option for mentions? Also really liking the portfolio mode for my photography and other peoples. That's cool!
Oh also the stuff I was talking about in regards to easing eye strain are.. "Twilight" for my phone and "f.lux" for the computer. I haven't seen the science behind it so I don't totally know how it works of it it works, but it feels like it has helped! It basically reverses the blue light and does red light instead during the darker hours.. I need to look into the science a lil bit more and make a post on it before too long, cause I feel like it has helped. And I bet it might help others as well! :)
Ha ha... Looks like the choppiness has passed on to my phone! On my laptop and desktop, it was flying... Mobile version is pretty clunky ui wise!
I used Twilight on my phone for a while, but now my version of Android has it baked in. I never bothered with the computers though! I think the blue light component of the white light has a energising effect on us... But I seem to remember read somewhere that it wasn't definitely proven yet? I have to check again...

The steem from your sponsors all went into rewards for the IFC All Star round. This came out of my pocket.
it was up in the air at the time of the sponsorships as to what it would be used for so thanks for clarifying. you awarded 20 steem for that round. damn!
Indeed. There was no specification for how the funds would be used, in a sense.. All of my efforts are going towards trying to keep this all working and to grow it, so.. I see all positive energy as helpful towards that and I try to make the best decisions I can in the meantime. I mess up sometimes but do my best. And yeah.. It's a lot for one round! 15 steem for first place.. And then.. I think 7 for second and 3 for 3rd? I forget, but it's actually more than 20 steem, I pulled some out of my pocket for that as well. Speaking of such.. You could get almost all of that back from your sponsor if you enter the All Star round and write a short story that wins. :) Time is getting a bit low now though. I think a lil less than a week to enter. But anyways.. Yeah.. I wanted it to be a special round, and I wanted to encourage people to play. So I tried to make it worth peoples while. Perhaps it was a bit much. Oh well. That's how you learn sometimes! ._.

Thanks for offering anyways. And yeah.. You were just in competition with one of the finalists, not sure that would be appropriate.. But I have been thinking about being less strict and allowing anyone to vote sort of thing sort of like you are suggesting? I am trying to look at it from your point of view, and have thought about similar before myself actually. We may do that in the future, though for right now we're still figuring things out and trying this route for now until someone explains a better way. It's a significant issue that we should probably vote on something like that in the future to decide what more people think. I think it'd be cool if there were more judges! So.. We'll see. Maybe we can change it and find a better way. :)
its basically apolys rules so whatever you say goes or the group youve chosen as stakeholders. ive seen your posts and it appears to be about 4-5 of you? what ive never understood are thsos that are stakeholders also participate in the competition. either way im only observing and didnt plush compete? i know ive said this before lol but its all good, i only offer to help and it doesnt hurt my feelings. that was a lot of judges involved and money disbursed. there must be a way to curtail all the spending unless thats the way its supposed to be. also for all that steem from donors and partly my contribution to to be spent solely on rewards can maybe be spent on helping the group grow like keep some in the bank? maybe curation trail or bot program? just thinking out loud here. also, wasnt there a third place reward? i think i got third place? maybe ... LOL!
Yeah, that's right plus a few "honorary" owners so to speak, who I consider family and like they are equal even if they want to remain anonymous or not get involved in that.
There is a lil weird area there in regards to a few of the players becoming owners. Yes. I don't really see that as a problem. I was hoping even some day I could play. But if I won I would donate the money to others. In fact that's what the rules are for the All Star game, anyone can play.. Even me.. But if I win I'll donate the prize money to someone else.
So.. Yeah.. We're working in that direction. Unless too many people oppose it.
I'd like to see a future where anyone can play even the judges and myself, I'm just trying to sort of.. Go into it slowly and try to find the best way to do it. I think there's a proper balance or recipe to make it work right and I'm not pretending I have the answer, but I do want to move more in the direction of allowing anyone to play or vote, though.. Then people say stuff and question whether there's collusion and such.. So I have to try to see if there's some kind of middle ground.. But I'm not sure there is. I don't have an easy answer for you.. We're learning as we go and I'd like it to be more open for anyone to vote or play including myself.
In regards to all the spending on the judges for this round, it was a special event. Just like the first season was. In all reality and I know no one wants to hear this but.. Next season the rewards will likely be smaller, and this first season I wanted to reach a wider audience. But.. The next season will also be shorter as well.. So.. I think it'll end up being very similar in actuality.
You do bring up a good point though and that's making this sustainable, I think all of us who appreciate this would like to see it last as long as possible and I'm sure that's what you're trying to say.. "Don't waste".. I understand. This was like I said.. A special event. It probably won't be like that in the future. UNLESS.. We get a lot more sponsorship.. There's a lot of steem floating around out there, if we got some good sponsors.. All of the rewards should be higher in my opinion. Including pay for the judges. It should all be higher.
So.. Thank you for your feedback and I will keep it in mind and try to be more frugal and patient and careful.
And yes.. There's a third place, we voted since technically in a sweet 16 there isn't really a 3rd place, but the community decided to give it to the two who didn't make it to the championship round as there wasn't technically a single 3rd place. So you will share the reward with wholeself-in.
PS. We'll be working on a curation trail next season that's one of the first things on the list, dunno about bots.. Maybe if there was a good one that was really helpful. And also just to let you know more details I planned on taking 1/5th of my account to fund the IFC at least. So.. There's at least like.. 700 steem left in the bank.
However.. It's a big prize and a lot of money goes into it all. So if I/we can't make it profitable in like 3-4 more seasons.. Then.. It's going to become really difficult to continue.
One thing that really umm.. Helps me feel a lot better about it though is that.. So many people have given me so much good and positive feedback that I think people would play even if there wasn't a cash reward.
If it gets to the point where we can't fund big prizes anymore or a healthy amount of judges. Or even any judges.. I'll still do it for free for fun, and I think others will play along for fun as well.
Quite a few have told me it helps them think of things to write about, and that they probably would have quit steemit already or wouldn't post very much if it wasn't for the contest.. So while I am very aware of the the risk of running out of funds and being careful.. I'm also aware that even if worst case scenario happened and it almost all dried up, that there'd still be a good core group of people who would play just for fun. :)

You're welcome. And yes.. I try to stay open minded to the possibilities and if people come up with better ideas I think we should implement them and change and not be rigid, however! At this point, we have a micro political system going and for a lot of significant things, it's not up to me.. It's up to the group. So sometimes even if I think something would make this work better, the community might disagree. That's happened at least once already.
I'm not sure what you're saying at the end there in regards to third place being established.
I thought I explained it in my above response. Let me repeat and in more detail.
Originally when I set up the game there was a prize for 3rd place. A couple months or so into it we talked to Dave Mccoy to come up with ideas to make the game better and he suggested a sweet 16 style tournament.
But when you get down to the final four which you and wholeself in were/are, and then two are eliminated, who is third place?
I made a post asking this question. Should we give it to the person who had more points during the regular season? or the judges since they deserve more pay? Or how should we give out the third place prize if there wasn't a clear cut third place?
The community overwhelmingly responded and voted in favor of awarding the third place prize to both of the final four that got eliminated. Thus, the third place prize will be split between you and wholeself-in who were both eliminated in the final four round.
That's what the community decided and I remember one other time you mentioned not being aware that we had decided something, I think it was.. The "votes" for which rounds would be played in the finals?
I've posted all of these things on our discord in the important places and on steemit as well, so it's all back there on the blockchain if you want to go look.

As I just mentioned it's not always up to me. I try to get the community to vote on important things most of the time, occasionally I'll do something unilaterally because I am the one with the most invested in this and I came up with the idea, but.. Definitely trying to make it be less centralized.
That would have been a possibility and one way to go about it, but what would you do in the case of a tie? Have another separate round to decide who gets third place prize? Bummer you missed the post, maybe if you mentioned it and more people saw it we would have done that instead. No one else suggested that, there was like one or two other votes to pay the judges with it, but the vast majority were to split it between the two who lost in the final four. I don't remember exactly when that vote was, so I'm not sure if it was when you were traveling or not?

Hi I am still following along. I was wanting to read all the stories for the championship round to get a feel for the new season. I am only seeing one entry am I missing them?
Hey! Glad to hear you're following along. :) Unfortunately there is only one entry so far.. Which has kind of bummed me out making me worried we won't get many entries, BUT.. We usually get most of the entries near the end and there's still.. I think 5 days left.. So.. Hopefully we get at least another couple entries in! I plan on doing one of my own, and I think charisma and bengy may both be working on one.. So yeah, hopefully we get more. That would suck if we didn't, however things are very slow right now on our discord and on steemit from my perspective so I'm not sure. It's a bummer but, we might not get very many entries this time.
well with 5 days left I still may come dragging in at the end with onr myself. I was thinking the deadline was today for some reason.

And..Yeah it will probably be a bit more difficult for you as you didn't play during the regular season, but.. I think this could be one of the funnest rounds, I know it would take me a week just to think of a topic that I wanted to do, well not so much think of a topic, but to narrow the topics down to a reasonable handful to choose from.
