Welcome to the GHSC Community Engagement Contest
For those of you that have not heard of Global Homestead Collective, it is an ever-growing community of self-reliant individuals from around the world. If you would like a great overview check out this POST from @freedompoint one of the founders.
What do we hope the contest accomplishes?

We feel this contest will support our community helping to unite, educate and encourage each other as we recognize the hard work that is going on all around us. As we continue the contest we will be evaluating the impact and possibly tweaking things to better suit the needs of the community, so each week be sure to check the rules for changes.

Just a quick word on the weighted totals, the quality of the comments can make a difference. We don't want to divulge the exact metrics we are using but they are designed to measure engagement quality. From the image below @squishysquid and @digitaldan almost tied even though there were 7 comments difference.

GHSC Comment Contest Week 2
You can earn Steem Basic Income shares just by engaging with GHSC posts.
Finding The Posts:
The contest will be centered around engagement with posts tagged with the #ghsc tag. The posts can easily be found by clicking on the trending tag #ghsc or the New Posts tag.
How Do I Sign UP:
Simply comment on this post with “I Want In” and you will be added to the growing list of contestants. You will also be included in future contests unless you decide to opt out.
Weekly Start and End:
The contest will consider comments made between 12:00 A.M. Monday until Sunday 11:59 P.M. based on blockchain time (US Eastern Time Zone).
Winner Selections:
The winners for the Main part of the contest will be selected using an algorithm that not only counts the number of comments but also factors in some quality engagement metrics. So it is not only dependent on the number of posts that you comment on or the number of comments made, there will be a qualitative/engagement factor involved as well. The exact metric used will not be discussed to prevent users from attempting to game the system.
Before any awards are given a spot check of comments will be performed. If numerous “Spam-type” or non-quality comments are found the award will move to the next person on the list. Spam comments would be something like the proverbial “Nice post.” “I follow, you follow” etc.

Yes, I'm only counting the ones who opted in.
I think I will pull everyone and see what that looks like, and maybe call a few people out who would do relatively well in the contest.
Got any tips for a dude wanting to bigly boost the SP? Just hit 300 after about 9 months on the platform. Wanted to break a thousand this year, but... Yeah.
lol, the quickest way is to invest.... or figure out how to attract a whale or curie to your posts. I've almost completely avoided both so far, other than one curie vote.
I just finished a 4 week test with a voting bot... voting on a whitelist of accounts. I leased 1000SP for 16 steem for 4 weeks and made right at 22SP. Which is better than most bid bots etc pay for delegations. It probably could have been better, but my internet sucks so it disconnected several times and missed a lot of votes.
I've also been thinking about doing a witness server but don't know whether to buy a server or lease a hosted one. Then you have the politics that go along with that as well.
Another option is to enter contests, I won the curie comment contest once for 10 steem, it's now at 15 steem to the champion, but that is a lot of time and energy to just get in the top 5 or 6. The plus sided, while doing the curie contest, the comments also count for Asher's engagement league, and a lot went to the c-squared comment contest as well. I think I pulled down 16 steem from commenting in one week(plus upvotes). Like I said, it was a lot of work...
There are a few more that I'm testing but nothing conclusive yet. I'm trying to figure out how to contribute to utopian-io, they hand out some pretty healthy upvotes.
Ok I guess roughly 1/2 of the people who say they'd do something, actually do it... that's not too bad. But where is everyone gone?
