What Have You Learned From Older People?

Our Elders can pass much wisdom on to younger people. Let us know what some of that wisdom was. Of course some old people are also a little out there and share interesting (non wisdom) stories so let's here those too.

In case you don't know who I am here is my intro post from way back:

Story of an honest Steemian. Honesty in today's world it still exists!!

Good luck yall !

Most regret working too much during their life.

@robhimmself1 ...being workaholic is not a bad thing.. if we enjoy it.

Sebaiknya, semakin bertambah umur kita, semakin kita dekat dengan orangtua kita.

I've spent a lot of time with elderly both via family and through some of my previous employers.

The thing that I have learned over the years from the elderly people that I spent time with is that there really is only one thing that is important in life - the time we spend with our family and loved ones. These elderly people craved the company of the people they love in their final years. It's what kept them going and the smiles I saw on their faces when loved ones visited was one of the most warming things I have ever seen.

I got caught up chasing the almighty dollar for many years and only truly understood how important family and loved ones are when I saw 5 family members and close friends die over a period of 2 years.

Now I am all too aware of how important it is to be with family and friends as much as possible. Life is too short to go chasing something as silly as a few nice items or that next big pay check. Possessions are never as important as the people you love.

For example, at one point (while telling her story), she would be reciting poetry, then she would segue into prose, and in between all of that was the singing she would infuse in her narrations.

Ibu tahu, tidak bisa disamakan antara ditinggal pergi orangtua untuk selamanya, dengan menghadapi perpisahan orangtua. tapi, bagi seorang anak, sama-sama menyakitkan.

I have come to ask your parents for help in the eradication of summer flu in Humbleton. The garbage cans are full of Kleenex wipes. The doctors have run out of cough drops. I do not know what to do

yesssssssssss!!!!! when do i get shortlisted for this ?

A wise older man once told me "Growing old is boring son, so don't"

I have learnt things in form of Parables "The only music a tortoise dance to, is that of a boiling water" which mean a Child should always take precaution in handling or dealing with issues. If that person goes otherwise, it might be too late to correct such mistakes.

"What an old man sees while sitting, a young man cannot see it, if he climbs a tall iroko tree" meaning people should always listen to those with experience when they are being given advice, from through experience one can shape his/her life in the right direction learning from other people's mistake.

They say wisdom is ubiquitous but people still go searching for it. The reply here is so touching, where do you get these thoughts and ideas from?awesome.jpg

Thank you. Got it from the men who have toiled the soil and travel the earth decades before I was born.

@yungcheif , speaking the truth... what an experience man can see , a young cannot!!!
With experience a wise man become more humble. Like a tree 🌳 with fruits 🍎, always bow down!!!
Cheers man for gracious word.
