An Indian wins USD 1.9 million in Abu Dhabi lottery

An Indian named Anil Varghese Theveril,50, has won USD 1.9 million in a fraffle in the UAE on Thursday. Mr. Varghese works as an executive assistant in Kuwait. He has been working there for the last 20 years.

Mr. Varghese said that he purchased the ticket online matching the number with his son's date of birth and it brings good luck for him. His son is doing his under-graduation in Kerala.

He said he has gone through tough times recently. “I am glad it is all over. I have to sit down and figure out what to do with the prize money,” said Varghese.

The total number of winners is eight. The first winner gets 7 million dirhams (USD 1.9 million or over Rs 12 crore) and the other winners get 1 million dirham each. It's wonderful that out of the eight winners six are indians. Amonng the other two one is a Bangladshi and one is a Moroccan.
