Introducing Contest Hero - Create contests on the Steem

After months of development, I am happy to share with you my first project on Steem, Contest Hero. You can find everything I discuss in this post at https://www.contesthero.io/
Contest Hero is a casual application built upon the Steem blockchain that allows you to create, manage, find and enter contests. By providing a dedicated set of tools to contests creators and contestants, Contest Hero hopes to provide value through increased engagement and increased reward for great contests.
Contests continue to provide an engaging means to interact with the Steem community, whether you're a writer, designer or simply looking for a free pack of Steem monsters. Contest appeal to everyone. Contest Hero hopes to be a home for existing Contest creators and contestants and overall provide a fun place for contest creation.
Contest Hero already has a great set of features available for its users, these include:
- Contest Feed with categories to help you find the right contest for you.
- Contest creation with deadlines, categories & entry methods. Contest creators have the ability to select whether their contestants should enter with a post or a comment.
- Contest to entry association and ability to select winners.
- Ability to randomly select contest winners.
As the site is still currently in beta, bugs are to be expected. With that said, expect regular improvements to the platform over the coming months.
Here's a bit more information on some of the key features of the platform:

The contest creation allows you to configure contests in 5 main categories:
Writing
Design
Photo
Giveaways
Others
By sorting contest into categories I hope to make it easy to find contests that appeal to you. I will bring new categories online based on community feedback and expect these to grow in the future.
Contest creators also have the ability to select how they would like contestants to enter their contest, they can choose whether or not they would like contestants to enter via a comment or post. Posts provide a great medium to create writing or design entries, but they're not going to work for giveaways, that's where comments come in.
Each contest is configured with a deadline, this means that contestants will know exactly how long they have until the contest is over. When the deadline surpasses, no more entries can be made to the contest.
View contests with deadlines, entries, winners, and comments
The view contest page allows users to quickly view key information relating to a contest, this contains any information you provided during setup of your contest along with a link to all entries made to your contest. Once you've selected winners they'll in here too.
Contest to entry association and ability to select winners
You can use the select winner's page to help pick the winners of your contest, currently, you can select 1st, 2nd, 3rd or general winners for a contest. You can select these manually or using the randomise option.
This is really the start in terms of the Contest Hero and there is a barrage of features that I plan to create, I hope that this will be influenced by users of Contest Hero as I want to work with the community to drive development through features requests and improvements.

Rewarding the Community
To reward Contest Hero users, I will be powering up the Contest Hero account in the near future, this will provide additional rewards via upvotes for engaging contests and valuable entries. To begin with, the vote will start small, but over time if the platform proves valuable I will look at other ways to help reward Contest Hero users. I hope to bring sponsored contests and monthly prizes funds to Contest Hero this achieved by working with projects on and off the blockchain. In order to help aid the growth of Contest Hero, a small beneficiary of 10% is applied to all contests and entries made on the platform.

Although it’s only not much, it’s a small token of my appreciation for being the first to try out the site. In order to be eligible for this gift you must meet the following criteria:

Well, you're certainly starting off in a big way. This is an excellent introductory post for a project that, to my mind, addresses a real need. I used to run some writing contests on Steem, but stopped because they did not get the engagement I was hoping for. A tool such as this would have been a great help to me at that time. Now, it's up to the community to either adopt this or not. But I think the chances are pretty good!
I noticed you didn't ask for delegations. Why not? If you're going to be rewarding contest creators and entries, delegation is a legitimate way to give that reward some weight relatively quickly.

I agree with you with about delegations, that's something I plan to bring forward in a couple of weeks. I would ideally like to get ensure that the product is both stable and providing value before I jump into that. I'm sure there will be a few kinks to work out. With delegation, I also need to put together the technology to reward delegators and draw up a curation guide, I've been flat out of the initial front end for the past couple of week, but it's definitely on this list :)
