A non-toxic home built of HEMPCRETE! A type of "concrete" made with hemp. It is a bio-composite made of the inner core of the hemp plant. The core has a high silica content which allows it to bind with lime (unique to hemp among all natural fibres). The result is a lightweight cementitious insulating material that weighs about 15% of the weight of concrete. Fully cured hempcrete blocks float. All loads are carried by internal (wood stud) framing. Once the walls are built, it requires only interior plaster and exterior stucco to complete!
