The Best Homemade Constipation Juice for Kids and Toddlers

in #constipation6 years ago

This Homemade Constipation Juice is the perfect natural constipation remedy for both toddlers and older kids alike - no juicer required! This juice is made in the blender with fresh pears, strawberries, prunes and a touch of honey and is so refreshing; your kids will actually love it.

Actually, I know that it is best for fruits to be consumed fresh and not mixed but my little one can’t eat solids, so putting them into juice form is the next best thing. However, you can play around with what method works best for your family.

This juice is made with only five ingredients: pears, strawberries, prunes, and honey and orange juice.

Prunes: Prunes are a powerhouse of vitamins and minerals, including potassium, iron and retinol. “Prunes are rich in vitamin k and contain beta-carotene. Each prune (approx 9.5 g) offers about 23 kcal and 0.7 g of fiber. An ounce (28g) can be added to smoothies or trail mixes to add to the fiber and antioxidant content”, says Dr. Rupali Datta, Chief Clinical Nutritionist, SmartCooky. Just one cup of prunes provides 87% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin K, more than 20% of most B vitamins, 8% of calcium and 27% of potassium. Strawberries: Strawberries are rich in the essential nutrients vitamin C, potassium, folic acid, and fiber. One cup of fresh strawberries contains 160 percent of the daily-recommended quantity of vitamin C, for only 50 calories. (Source: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/271285.php

Pears: Pears are a mild, sweet fruit with a fibrous center. They are rich in important antioxidants, flavonoids, and dietary fiber and pack all of these nutrients in a fat-free, cholesterol-free, 100-calorie package. (Source: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/285430.php

Orange Juice: Orange juice, as you can probably guess, is the juice squeezed from the popular and delicious citrus fruit, oranges. It is considered as one of the healthiest beverages because of its wide range of health benefits, which include its ability to boost immunity, reduce signs of aging, prevent cancer, boost cellular repair and metabolism, detoxify the body, improve circulation and blood pressure, reduce inflammation, and lower cholesterol levels. Honey: We all know the benefits of honey. I add it here as a sweetener. This recipe makes four servings of constipation juice, but it will probably take at least two servings, if not more for you to see any results.

Ingredients:

1 ripe pear, peeled, cored and roughly chopped
5-6 strawberries, frozen or fresh
1 prune
1-2 tablespoons honey, optional
4 cups of Orange juice

Instructions
1. In a small bowl, place the prune and cover with hot water. Let sit for 10 minutes. If fresh just cut it and put it in the blender.
2. In a blender, add in the pear, strawberries, prune, honey (if using) and 4 cups of water and blend on high for 2-3 minutes.
3. You can serve as is, but it might be a little pulpy for some kids. I like to strain the juice first so my little girl can drink it. You can do as you like.

Age: 9 months and up (for kids under 1 year, omit the honey)
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Blend Time: 2 minutes
