there has to be a better way, I think there is a big difference between a fire drill; training kids to get out of a burning building and an active shooter drill.

Fire, drill or not, the kids are orderly moving out of a building, the motion is started from the training. once they see smoke or fire, they are just going to move a little more quickly and seriously.

Shooter drill or not, by the time the figure out its not a drill, they are dead.

There has to be a better way to teach them what to do rather than scaring the shit out of them and desensitizing them for when the real event might happen.
