I don't get it. Consciousness is easy enough for a child to understand. It's for a being to be awake, able to think, and able to process the information they receive through their senses.

You can prefer to redefine God in a way that you find acceptable but that doesn't change the nature of God and what he requires of us. There's nothing more foolish in life that refusing to believe in God because he doesn't run his universe the way you want him to.
