Congressional Term Limits. Why and How?

in #congressional7 years ago

What is the biggest problem in congress? In my oppinion; they are more interested in campaigning for funding and votes, than they are with actually worrying about their job.

Since they need to campaign for funds, they pass bills that donors support without reading them, they make hollow promises to the people to justify them being in office, 'they need funding as well as votes and its easier to lie to get votes, than it is to lie to get funding.

A controversial Idea, that I support, to help eliminate this ignorace and corruption, would be to place term limits upon congress.

This idea has been swashed around and fought over for a long time. Nobody able to find neutral ground.

I propose an idea that helps keep those in office true to their oath and perform tasks aimed at supporting the PEOPLE of the usa.

1st: congressional term limits are NOT something to be taken lightely.

There is a reason they did,not put limits upon congress in the first place and that reason originates from the concept that, 'im only in here for x amount of time so do what i want for that period of time,'

as compared to limitless terms where 'I have as much time in here as im allowed, therefore do good.'

Phooey on both of them i say!!

This is,the 21st century, those currently in congress have spent their whole lives under the impression, they will get into office. Today we have CAREER politicians, who have only ever done what was needed for them to advance in their political career. 'Not all politicians'

The rich were promised a seat in congress because of the funding they provided in times of need, and because at the time in the 1700's EDUCATION WAS A RICH THING. Poor common folk were not educated because they had no time,or money to be. But the rich did, and therefore understood local and national politics better than most. Being able to READ is a basic necessity of READING A BILL.

Now, in the 21st century, education is a necessity to ALL in america, and most of the people not in public office, can offer more to the people, than those in office.

Currently, we have a government full of rich people, ran by rich people, telling the poor people how to live their lives, which the rich people have never experienced.

Currently we have uneducated* congressmen who care only about what interest groups pay to say, rather than what is being said nationwide.
*uneducated as in, they know what they are told, and not what they have LEARNED.

Congressmen dont read bills, they just promisr support quid pro quo. And those who DO read the bills... usually end up being the brokest, and shortest lived congressmen.

I propose:

Term limits be implimented upon the house of representatives. H.o.R. will sustain their two (2) year terms, in which reelection will be required by the citizens of respected state. No Representative shall hold office more than five (5) terms or ten (10) years total in the H.o.R. To extend meaning of above stated 'years total,' No congressmen shall hold office in the house of representatives for more than ten (10) years total in combination of any chair held in the H.o.R.

Senate term limits shall remain endless. The only new implimentation would be to bar senators who have spent more than eight (8) years in senate, the H.o.R., or a combination of both, from running for H.o.R.

These term limits to be implimented upon next congressional election.

I believe this is the best way to keep our representatives able to PROPERLY represent us, and a maximum of 10 years is excellent for the proper cycle,of generations through the representatives.

Loooooong explination... im sorry.
