CONCURSO DE ARTE # 4. ABUELA CON PÁJARO... National Bird Turpial

The Venezuelan turpial is a bird belonging to the ichterid family, originally from the American continent. Of small aspect, measuring between 15 and 22 cm, it has the head and the wings of black color and the rest of the yellow body. They can live alone or in pairs and their melodious singing is very peculiar.

It is the national bird of Venezuela, being thus chosen in a contest sponsored by the Venezuelan Society of Natural Sciences and officially declared on May 23, 1958
