The Akdamar church

⭐Akdamar the church; Van has taken the name of Akdamar Island, the largest island in the lake.
The Akdamar church was built by King Gakik from the Vaspurakan dynasty, ruling in the region, M.S. Between the years 915-921 was constructed by the architect Monk Manuel.

⭐the purpose of building of the church was to keep a part of the true Crucifix that was brought to Van in the 7th century after being kidnapped from Iran by Jerusalem.The church is in the south east of Akdamar Island. It reflects Armenian art.
