One might be wondering why his/her computer is running considerably at the lowest speed! No one likes this ugly situation, isn’t it? Yea, that is very correct. But the question to ask oneself is this, what I’m I doing that is slowing down my computer and what are the steps to be taken to tackle this frustrating situation. Actually, and frankly speaking, there are a lot of measures that can be taken to speed up your computer. In this post, I am going to explain some of the steps and ways you can take to speed up your computer. Not to waste your time, let us start right away.

  1. AVOID RUNNING MANY PROGRAMS AT THE SAME TIME

This might sound funny, but it is true. As the saying goes thus, “you cannot eat your cake and still have it”. In other word, it is not advisable to open a lot of programs down at the same time. Let us examine this; you open 15 tabs when browsing the internet, you also open 10 programs down as well, what a stuff! For example, antivirus and big program like Adobe Dreamweaver is not too wise to be running together while still browsing.

So, when you know you are done with a program, close it and avoid opening many programs at the same time because, this will slow down your computer and will now allow for the fast and speedy computer you always want.

  1. DELETE UNWANTED FILES, FOLDERS AND PROGRAM

When you
know you don’t want a particular file, folder or program you previously installed anymore, the best thing to do is to delete them. If you don’t know, every file in your computer takes its own percentage in the system.

Delete a program you don’t want any more to free your system and give a room for fast and speedy computer which you dream of.

  1. ALWAYS UPDATE THE PROGRAMS IN YOUR COMPUTER

It might surprise you that
it not so advisable and good when you refuse to update the software in your system. Why? The reason is that day in day out, software manufacturers always have the new feature that has to do with their software on their various websites. Using old program or software on a new machine or vice-versa may not do well with your system as far as speed is concerned.

  1. INCREASE/UPGRADE YOUR SYSTEM MEMORY

Do you know that nearly every day new software comes into the technology-market? As a result, it will be somehow “stressful “for an old system to run a new innovation/software. If you want your computer to run well and increase the speed of your computer, it is strongly advised to upgrade your computer memory. Take for instance, if your computer default memory is 1 or 2GB when you bought it, you can increase it to 4GB to be able to compete with new software/innovation.

  1. DISABLE THE START-UP PROGRAMS YOU DON’T REALLY NEED

By default, some programs have been designed to boot with the Windows when computer starts. Though good to some extent, but it might not speed up your computer booting. In the future here, I am going to write a post on how you can disable some programs that automatically boot with the operating system. Watch out for it!

  1. DISK CLEANUP

Disk Cleanup is very important to speed up your computer. It is a free arrangement that comes with your computer. It comes free with Windows and will get rid of the rest of the unwanted/junk files that you have in your hard-disk. To do the disk clean up, do the following

-GO TO ACCESSORIES

-SYSTEM TOOLS

-DISK CLEANUP

or if this description/steps of the disk clean up mentioned up here doesn’t suit the kind of windows you are using, don’t mind, just go to the control panel and look for the search bar and type “disk clean-up” …Then, follow the instruction to finish.

These are little ways I have come up with to increase the speed of your computer. I do hope you find this useful and helpful. In case. You know any other ways to speed up computer that is not too technical and complicated, feel free to say your mind through comment section. Thanks for reading.
