A helping post today.

Hi folks. Just a couple of helpful hints for Steemit today.

  1. The voting Bots - Curse or money maker?

After a week or so of trying out the Steembottracker website: https://steembottracker.com/ and using the Bots to bring more attention to my posts... I have to say I am still confused as to the effectiveness of bot voting. Yes, it does bring up the post to higher levels in the categories it is tagged for. Does it earn SBD in an amount more than what you paid for the vote? Yes and no.

Yes, because it seems the SBD paid out is more than what was on the post to begin with. For instance I just tested the Nado Bot with a .15 SBD Bid. When my post was voted for by the bot - the SBD payable rose from 3.46 SBD to 3.87 SBD. Split 50/50 with SBD and Steem Power (default setting) and a 25% curation fee - the payout will be as such for this vote: .41 SBD were given. take 25% away for curation - .103 SBD leaves .308 SBD. With the 50/50 split for SBD/SP - the actual payout will be .154 SBD. So Irealized a .004 SBD profit AND some steem power. Not quite sure how that is calculated yet, working on that, but any addition to my SP is welcome. Especially if my SBD increases as well. Seems SP is a fraction of what SBD is. So in my books - they are, so far, a money maker as I have come out ahead for every bid I have made.

  1. There is delegation. If you delegate some of your Steem Power TO one of the Bots, the bot will pay you a specific amount of Steem Dollars whenever they place a vote. The amount you receive is in proportion to your stake in the total pool of those who designated SP to that particular bot. i.e. if the amount of SP you delegate is 1% of the total delegation that bot has, then you will receive 1% of the bidding amount.

The more you delegate, the more you will earn. Passively. For instance, I have 45 Steem power delegated to @minnowhelper and am receiving a payout from every vote they post. Not very much because what I have for delegation (45 SP) is a mere pittance. But like I said before - any amount that adds to my balance is a good thing.

It's easy to do, but you have to have SteemPower to delegate. This comes from earning it or buying it.

I learned - am learning - these techniques and more from a guy I have been following for some time now - @jerrybanfield. I love his delivery of the lessons he gives and how he is grateful for everything that happens. Even the messes because it is always a learning experience.

I'm really just getting started on this Steem Train even though I have been a member for quite some time. Didn't realize the potential until I started listening to @jerrybanfield with this video.

Sorry I couldn't find the blog post to re-steem.

Watch that video several times and learn what can be done to earn with steem. @jerrybanfield also has a 28 day Steemit course for beginners. That can be found here: https://steemit.com/steem/@jerrybanfield/steem-guide-january-2018

A great big Thank you to @jerrybanfield for his sharing both his wins and learning experiences with all of us so we can learn and earn.

Thanks for reading and I hope you get something out of this post.

Sort:

From what I've seen there are two camps: Those for and those against self up-voting.

The original idea of voting bots was to show one's appreciation of someone else's post, but it wasn't long before self-upvoting became the trend.

Recently the initiator of the Steemit Colour Challenge was blacklisted for using voting bots to upvote her own posts ~So I'd be wary of the over-use of voting bots to self-upvote.

Having said this, after watching this video I really do like Jerry's approach, as he's using his influence for the benefit of Steem. And so I'd like to experiment with it a little now too. 🦋

Yes, I agree. That's why I like @jerrybanfield so much. He is helping to support the entire community with his teachings. We can all learn so much. Thanks for the comment.
