Competition or collaboration
Every society is composed of a wide variety of principles.
The competition and hate that dominate our society today make us think the worst of ourselves.
But collaboration and love have not disappeared, and it is possible to find them in our reality.
We sympathize with people who have suffered a catastrophe. We help friends without charging them. We do selfless things for strangers (give up a seat, give the time). We feel good about helping someone. We seek to connect with other people.
These acts of kindness are also a fundamental part of keeping our society from falling apart. It is what David Graeber called «grassroots communism.» The communist ideology seeks this principle to be dominant in our society. As today capitalism makes competition the guiding principle of our reality. We have the power to decide which principle we want to favor.
