Steemit Update [ August 14th, 2023 ] : Community Curators for September - Applications Open
We hope you are all enjoying another month of the Community Curators.
The smaller teams appear to have been working well. We will therefore be continuing with this approach in September.
If you would like to have a chance of being selected for a Community Curation team for next month now is the time to make your application.
The Community Curators for September
For September we are again inviting individuals to apply if they would like to be Community Curators.
From the individual applications we will select seven teams.
For the coming month we will continue with the trend toward smaller teams. This means competition will be tougher to be selected as a Community Curator, but the rewards will be higher.
We have observed that a number of Community Curators find it difficult to look beyond their own communities when casting their votes, and especially when selecting their Posts of the Week.
Finding people who are willing and able to seek out posts across different languages and different communities will become increasingly important in selecting Community Curators.
Again there will be no specific themes allocated for each team - except Team Burn who will be supporting #burnsteem25 posts and Team Newcomer who will be supporting people in their first three months.
All other teams will be free to vote on posts on any subject.
We also want teams to look beyond communities. There are many good posts that are outside of any communities - just directly on people’s personal blogs.
Teams should seek these out.
The Curation Teams in September should allocate a portion of their voting power for voting on the best comments.
High quality relevant comments add extra richness to the Steem blogging ecosystem.
Good comments can be as interesting and as valuable as good posts.
We want good comments to be encouraged and rewarded.
How to Apply as a Community Curator
If you would like to be considered as a Community Curator you should make a post including…
A brief summary of your history on Steem.
Details of any positions of responsibility you have held on Steem.
Details of specialist or professional skills or expertise you have in ‘real life’.
What country you live in and what languages you can read fluently.
Your key stats - own SP, CSI, Reputation, Delegations.
Any subjects you particularly enjoy curating.
To apply to become a Community Curator you must have a reputation of at least 70 and you must have at least 11,000 SP of your own (not delegated to you).
Previously selected Community Curators are welcome to apply again for September.
Please indicate in your application if you would be willing to be on Team Newcomer.
Keep posts brief and easy to follow. Include the tag #curatorapplication in the first four tags.
Applications can be made in any language.
Posts should be submitted by 11.59pm UTC, on Friday, August 25th, 2023.
How Community Curators will be rewarded
Every day all teams will be allowed to allocate one full vote to a member’s post - ideally in rotation. If a team has less than seven members, members can potentially receive more than one vote per week.
In total no more than 10% of the account’s voting power should be used on team members each week.
Additionally each week one member should post a report for the team in the Steem POD community with a list of their top 7 posts, with a brief note of why each post was chosen.
These posts should set beneficiaries to share the rewards with other members of the team.
The posts will be voted by @steemcurator01.
Thank you to this month’s Community Curators. You are all welcome to apply again for September.
The selections for the Curation Teams will be announced by the end of the month, with a view to starting at the beginning of September.
All Community Curators now have the added challenge of looking out for posts with AI generated content from ChatGPT or other similar sites. If you are applying to be a Curator for September make sure you are familiar with the tools available for detecting this sort of content which we consider to be another form of plagiarism.
Finally we would like to remind everyone that they should not contact the Community Curators asking for votes, or to be selected as a Post of the Week. Anyone found doing this may be barred from receiving any @steemcurator0x or @booming votes.

Minimum Age
The question of the minimum age for people to have Steem accounts has been raised.
In the Steemit Terms of Service the minimum age is given as 13 years old.
However following the success of the Steem Kids and the CryptoKids communities in introducing younger Steemians to the platform Steemit Inc now considers the age of 13 to be a guideline rather than a hard rule.
As long as accounts are actually operated by the young people themselves, and as long they are supervised by parents or other suitable adults, it will be fine for people younger than 13 to participate on the platform.
Individual communities will be free to decide what minimum age they are willing to accept amongst their members.
Thanks again for giving the community the chance to be a curator🫶🏼
I’ll be applying again!
This is a very important and necessary update, thank you for providing it. I think that the children's communities have done well (especially Steem Kids where I had the opportunity to work and support but that I had to abandon due to the lack of stable internet that I had in the past)
I think the healthiest thing to be able to continue working with children is to work on forging these specific communities so that they are safe spaces for them to interact. After all this controversy I have been thinking of starting some kind of dedicated web interface for children, a "Steemit Kids". The main features could be:
Filter the NSFW content.
Show specific communities or labels for children.
Create a friendly and easy-understand interface for minors.
Offer tools to make the use of Markdown more dynamic.
It is a somewhat big idea, but I think it would be a very striking solution and that would greatly facilitate the inclusion of children (reducing even more the use of these accounts by parents)
As @nahela said me before, A good method for children to be included in the content creation process is to teach them how to create videos, and upload those videos to the platform.
There is a lot of ideas around the community, I will do my best to contribute as much as I can in this matter to keep the things clean and fair!
I agree with you because I don't feel comfortable when I see young kids posting here during school time. I think most of these accounts are being handled by parents themselves and their content proves my point further when I see the writing style of parents and the kids has no difference. Thanks for raising this issue. And yes, their participation be limited to appropriate communities.
Saludos amigo.
Great news, I'm new to this platform and looking forward to experience the Web3 blogging platform. I've been blogging in other Web2 blogging platforms for over a year now. Happy to join the Steemian fam!
Hopefully many steemian friends who have met the requirements can take part in registering themselves as curators in September
Steemit team has made a very excellent decision regarding age and I think that thirteen years is a suitable age to join steemit and secondly it is also a very standard decision for a community that is related to children, parents and themselves. Can make a decision on the stream. Steemit has a very good decision.
Thank you very much Steemit Team! Community curator is a "trust" and the best way to distribute steemcurators' votes fairly and equally for all exclusive content on the Steem platform.
It would be awesome to be part of the curation team. Yesterday my account came back alive, 3 years have passed by. Awesomeness to read the post i made in that past. Many things have happened since... Keep an eye out for my first new post... I hope you guys @Steemit community and devs appreciate my work. Have a fantastic day! O.
Wow
perfect
hi! @steemitblog
I'm @uvrajput you can help me.
Perfect
Team steemit @steemcurator01!
I have a convincing request to you, to clarify one more point!
Do not support, but rather lower the payout for those who offend users or unjustifiably use curatorial accounts!
