What Are Your Favorite Communities On The Steemit Platform?

in #community6 years ago (edited)

I'm interested in learning about more communities on the Steem blockchain. Some of you may know about Open Mic and other music related communities here. What other thriving communities do you like best on Steemit?

It can be any kind of community; photography, art, tech, crypto, witnesses, food, whatever you like.

Just add a comment to this post telling us:

  • A link to the community project or username that started it
  • How long you have been a part of that community

My hope is that we can all learn more about more communities on the platform if we share our experiences in this post. Thank you for taking the time to share some of the communities you're passionate about on Steemit so we can discover them too.

Well, there's an art and culture curation project I really like because it's currently one of the most serious curation projects, they have been here on steem since march and in these 7 months they have made an amazing work, showed how committed they are with this community and have even received support from the Sndbox team.

This project enhance how important art and culture can be for the decentralized community growth on steem and also how much value art and culture can give to this community and society itself.

Their topic is art and culture and their tag is #celfmagazine.

Their blog is @celfmagazine and it was started by @joedukeg and his fellow artist friends.

They have supported my since they started their curation activities and I have been part of their curation team since July.

Thank you very much for taking time to read this and I hope you stop by the blog, I'm sure you'll like this project too.

Greetings! :)

I will check it out for sure. Thanks for the comment explaining about it.

Thank you for mentioning our project, @ailindigo, you are great and we are proud to have you on our curation team. We would be honored if you would take a look at our project, @luzcypher, you are one of the most inspiring community leaders on STEEM.

By the way, @sndbox has just published a short draft about how it would be a DAPP and an SMT built on top of our project idea.

Why you like that community or project

Steemflagrewards. The thought of actively policing the platform and seeking out posts that constitute abuse. The program provides incentives to get people active and conscious about the ethical use in the platform and their scope is much broader than Steemcleaners.

It motivated me to be more involved with other people that shared the same sentiments in keeping the platform free from those that only want to milk it. It's ok to enter the platform in the hopes of earning something from it but to do plagiarism, spam, and sorts of abuse only lessens the value of the platform. SFR wants to raise the value of the platform and help the community be conscious about protecting the ecosystem that provides them some financial rewards for being involved into.

How long you have been a part of that community

I can't recall how long but it's been more than 3 months.

I agree, keeping the plagiarists and spammers out of here keeps the platform strong and the content more authentic.

If that community doesn't use a tag how do you communicate with the community?

It's a close knit group and most communications are done on discord. Anybody who is actively against abusive posts would eventually know everybody into the cause. I think it's not even necessary to have a unique tag. If it did needed a tag, it may be best to use antiabuse.

Well, #classical-music is still pretty much a niche genre here and we've suffered a big drop off due to the falling crypto prices, but there still are a few of us keeping the candle burning at @classical-radio and @classical-music! We'll be ready when the pace picks up again!

I love classical music. Didn't know about this one. Thanks for sharing it. Are you the curator or involved with it in any way?

I run and curate for @classical-radio, @remlaps set up the original tag and account @classical-music. His interest is via his son (@cmp2020) , who is a composer and pianist. My interest is that I'm a professional violinist!

Cool. I wish I could play the violin.

Have you considered entering the Steemit Open Mic contest? We would love to hear you play some music.

I had looked into and I encourage others to do it, but there is a couple of things that stop me (nothing to do with openmic though).

Firstly, there is the professional hazard of putting out something in public that might not be the top quality recording that is possible, as I don't have proper recording equipment (that is usually done for me and the groups I play in, I have no idea how it works!) I don't think I would be able to do something that I would be happy to have in the public space.

Second, most of my music is for ensembles and orchestras, or at least one of two other people! All the people I know are professional musicians, and are thus mercenary when it comes to this sort of thing!

I have put up a couple of things that I had on Soundcloud, and I also have put up a couple of things from @musicapoetica, but at the moment the reward structure of Steem is a pretty big disincentive for professional established classical musicians to put their work here...

If you want to know about a truly awesome community you have to check out the next one:

"El Arca" Project (The ark) @elarca

I just love this project because since I join that community (like 5 month ago) they have been doing an awesome work with really (almost none) low fundings to share. They has been fighting against everything and right now help really much to so much people to spread their talents over the platform.

They're people really engaged with the content creators, actually have contest and ways to remunerate the people that trust and love the project, actually they have the support of @curie and now they can be a better impulse to the artist that make live within the project.

Also, the idea behind that project is to be a financial support to the people outside the platform to impulse the artist career of anyone that make live in there.

The creator of this project is called @zaxan, a really engaged person that make live on projects like PAL, @helpie, and more.

You won't regret to check out that community, I promise.

The topic that they curate are #art mostly and of course use the #spanish #castellano tag, in fact they don't have a special tag and they don't look for a special one, they curate anything that is art-related.

If you can take a couple of minutes to go over there and see the awesome work (including truly awesome designs) you won't regret it!

Thank you for the mention Ilazra. And I couldn't have said it better. The ark is a space for art, a meeting place for Hispanic artists that we have seen grow for several months now.

Contests, editorials, video arts, reports, healings. We are a team that travels through the confines of the blockchain bringing content and love to all these artists who deserve it. And thanks to @steemcreative and @curie many goals have been better developed. We hope to be able to continue growing and to be able to support the Hispanic community much more. You forgot to mention our @capsula and @stellae teams.

Thank you for your support! Steem on!

This comment is art.

Actually is really amazing all the things that @elarca do for keep the art alive, the community is so incredible, their contests, and the editorials. Being part of this project is an honor.

I am mostly interested in #opensource and #voluntaryist communities and there are a lot of active people on this platform. That is really what keeps me here as much as anything.

With Voluntayists, it is a bit of an echo chamber, but compared to the Statists on other platforms, it's just nice to have some common ground.

When it comes to the Open Source stuff, this is a great place to keep up with the fast pace of developments and the stories about their projects.

I believe there are many good communities on Steem.

The one I can TRUST the most is Dtube community because we put ourselves out there almost every day infront of the camera and helping steem Blockchain to grow.

Also I would argue that one of the most welcoming and diverse community is Dtube

I love the idea of DTube but have a hard time using it. Of 10 videos I have tried to upload only 1 worked. It takes so long to upload the site logs me out before I can hit the publish button.

Would be great if they could embed videos too.

Also heard the code was open source until DTube closed it. Don't know if that's true or not and they don't respond to my questions about that to verify.

I assume that you probably tried uploading dtube before their last update.

I recommend using google chrome and sign up using posting key only and do not use steemconnect to login. When you long in please don’t forget to click to “remember me”

I’m don’t much about open source thing. But if everyone did come out and upload dtube videos twice week we can build more stronger connections with our fellow steemians. Also we can eliminate the fake and bot users from Steem ecosystem.

If you need more help uploading video then please feel free to ask me or Dtube Discord channel
https://discord.gg/dtube

Thanks for the tips. I did contact their Discord channel when I experienced problems uploading but they didn't really help me fix it. I'll try it again though.

How would uploading to DTube?

eliminate the fake and bot users from Steem ecosystem.

If you’ve any question about uploading then you can ask me directly here on the comment section and I will do my best!

Edit.. Dtube is now fully open source
And you can find more information

https://steemit.com/dtube/@heimindanger/dtube-0-8-the-grand-upgrade-is-finally-here-dtv-dtalk-vip-system-etc

Hmm, I missed that update that it's now open source. So anyone can now download the code for DTube, modify it, and create a new app out of it?

I believe so my friend!

Hope to see your Dtube vlogs :)

Ever heard about Esperanto on Steemit? Seems I am the only one (more or less) posting for its community. Nothing wrong with that. Compared with the real world we are a tiny minority, however worldwide active and represent the only invented language which made it to a real natural language. On steemit I like to see all the different languages even if English dominates. Vivas la diverseco!

So, what is Esperanto? Did you read the part of this post that says"

Well, Esperanto is an invented universal language (started in 1887) https://steemit.com/esperanto/@johano/esperanto. I like the the idea behind the language project and its linguistic geniality. People in the Esperanto community are friendly, openminded and helpful. Esperanto posts are taged with: esperanto. I am there quite from the beginning. But I don't know who wrote the first article, might be @vanege.

I’m from Nigeria 🇳🇬, steemit has touched Nigerians greatly through a steemit community that I belonged to for twenty (20)months now.

Genesisproject is a steemit community that I belong to.

Thanks @luzcypher for #openmic. We love seeing talented musicians it promotes on steemit.

I remember you telling me about this project when it first started. It's good that it's still going. Thanks for sharing. What other communities are you involved with?

Italian comunity is a growing and very well committed comunity here on Steemit.

Personally, I enjoy using @steepshot on the go #steepshot has easy connectivity and a clean interface as you can see over on my profile

https://alpha.steepshot.io/@vandigital

Shout out to @pmartynov for the hard work. It's been about 4 months now and I've posted 52 photos!

@vandigital

Does posting photos reward like well-written posts do, and more importantly, does in engage people in conversation with good comments?

That's hard to imagine.

Not as engaging as posts, but for me it's convenient when I'm travelling or busy on the run and want to drop a post that visually reflects what's going on.. It's my Instagram for Blockchain! Rewards are not bad though, depending on who's on your trail.. Plus upvotes from #steepshot?!?!?
