New Ways to Value Society Participation

Depending on your perspectives, there is 'karma' that goes along with using centrally issued, interest driven money, like the US Dollar. People have different opinions about our economy, but most would agree that having options is a positive thing and luckily, there are many alternatives to government money these days, especially with new technology.
Alternative Currencies
Many cities have local, non-profit barter currencies such as, the very successful, Ithaca Hour or villages.io is an option for creating your own barter network with your friends & community. Other people are using bitcoin, which is like a digital decentralized 'gold standard'.
Steemit
Bitcoin's technology has opened the road for many kinds of interesting decentralized, autonomous technologies, one platform that I find to be particularly interesting and useful is Steemit, which is money backed by quality content. Facebook is a $100b company, but who creates the content? We do..Steemit is a decentralized open source network, so nobody owns it and it is maintained by a global autonomous network of developers. STEEM is the steemit token and it is used to give incentive and encourage quality content.
Users who choose to hold a stake in the network by locking up their STEEM for 3 months (called STEEM Power), are able to approve new quality content, rewarding the author and curators with new STEEM.
I've actually earned a good bit of STEEM from posting and have many friends who are making a living using steemit. It is a truly transformational technology, especially in third world countries, where it is shifting whole towns. People do well and make a lot of money on steemit, by posting interesting, uplifting and often charitable action. It is very easy to sell STEEM for local gov currencies (fiat), too.
HumanDalas
Recently, the Smart Media Token Platform was announced and will work on the steem platform. It allows organizations like HuMandalas to easily issue their own community tokens, in the same style as STEEM and integrate it with the forum on my site. As of now, I plan to use a 'HumanDalas Smart Media Token' to inspire people all over the world to create and share more epic HuMandalas Photos, Videos, Articles and Artwork.
The traditional Hawaiian currency is called the 'Dala', so it seemed the appropriate name for the HuMandalas Movement Meditation Community Token (HumanDalas)
Once SMT is stable, we will determine the supply and issuance rate, then do a 'HumanDalas Power' presale.
