My submission for this week is https://steemit.com/steemit/@happyme/are-you-guilty-of-this-trending-behaviour which made only 50 cents. It's not a very large post, but I think it has an important message in it.
I found those types of comments deeply impersonal, every since I joined. At the same time, they do add as comments and the more comments you have the more attractive your post could be to potential readers. I like how you structured your post, short, to the point, and the title is very good. The word "guilty" attracts a lot of attention.
Excellent observation about the fact that those simple comments do in fact add to the number of comments you receive and may improve your chances of others looking at your post. To be honest though, I never use that metric for deciding if I will look at a post or not. I keep hearing that more views means better chance of others looking, but it sure doesn't apply to me. Am I unique or is that idea just something someone made up and is now believed as fact because it keeps being repeated?
Well, when you see a post with a lot of comments, which is already in your field of interest (why else are you on that tag?), it could trigger that primordial curiosity that was present even in caveman times when you saw many people gathered around something you don't see unless you go check it out :) ...

You must have skimmed and not actually read the post to understand it. The post is about the AUTHOR responding to comments made on their own post.
I understand that and I did read the post completely. I do see why you thought I didn't though, my comment was not very clear. Whether you're the author of the post or not, your replies should bring value to the conversation, otherwise, just upvote. Many people, as you point out, do the opposite. They write pointless little replies and don't upvote.

I think the reason for giving a quick reply is often just to say that they saw the response and appreciate it, but don't have anything more to add to it. I know that if someone gets hundreds of replies each day it would take far too much time to write several paragraphs of response to each. I don't expect authors to spend all their time on responses. However, once the author gets their vote-slider, I don't see why they can't give a small up-vote to their fans. (Anyone without a vote-slider is forced to give a 100% up-vote and thus only can give 10 per day or lose their ability to control their vote power.
I am always trying to contribute much more to conversations - i like to challenge people to step up their critical thinking .
Sometimes i even ask questions people normally would never hear - just so i can see what kind of response i can get - i have even started a list of questions for a social experiment to evolve conversation to a much deeper connection ; im looking for 100 questions ; so far im only around 40 ish ? lol
