My Experience Nutrition for Noobs #3

in #community7 years ago (edited)

I was always the skinny gamer kid. I never considered myself strong, but I didn't know that I was unhealthy even though I was skinny. I began my journey by getting a gym pass at the local fitness center when I was 16. I found trouble building muscle like some of my friends. All my buddies told me I had to eat more protein and get this or that supplement.

I realized over time the most important thing was trail and error. Finding out what worked for my body by experimenting will all types of diets until I found what worked for me. I couldn't put on muscle until I started to learn about my body. Once I did the muscle came fast. A lot faster than I ever expected in the beginning. It's a good feeling seeing the results you get from hard work. I'll tell you it feels even better when your nutrition is on point. The results came daily.

After a couple years working out I had what most people would consider a good body. I transitioned from high school to college pursuing a degree in nutrition. My peers would always ask me what they should eat or what they should do to get the outcome they wanted. I began to write plans for my peers to use to achieve their fitness goals. I wrote nutrition plans, workout plans, even full day schedules for people. I found it very fulfilling to see other people meeting their goals. They would always thank me but honestly the reality was with fitness and nutrition the only person that can do the work is you. I can write as many plans, diets, things on paper as I want. The best feeling I got was seeing other people feel good about themselves and meeting their goals.

After awhile the way I though about the gym and fitness as a whole was changed. My perspective shifted from just wanting to build muscle to wanting to help those around me as much as I could. Steemit gives me the opportunity to reach more of my peers and I'm very grateful for that. I urge everyone to stop passively going through the day not considering the long term effects of their nutrition and really how they model their day.

When you eat chicken and rice instead of a burger you didn't do it for your mom or dad, for anybody else. You mentally thought about both and made the decision to have the option that you know might just be healthier. And by the way don't think chicken and rice like plain chicken and rice. Season, marinade, experiment because I guarantee you chicken and rice prepared your special way is better than a fast food burger. I honestly don't even think the burger is bad in anyway. In moderation. Because moderation is key. You have to find what works for you because the reward is for yourself. You cannot sell yourself short you're worth to much! As an individual and as a member of your community.
