My least favourite Steemit featuresteemCreated with Sketch.

There are 99 things I love about this platform and comments locking after 30 days is not one.

My bad! I'm pretty sure that's 20 days now...

When I found out commenting was locked after a certain time period I was disappointed but I figured over time I could make others understand this is problematic. Now it seems the time to comment is even less and I don't know how to feel about it.

I know this is probably meant to encourage people to create new content and subscribe to their favourite content creators, but aren't we also risking repeated content being created in order to be able to comment on a subject?

A while back I read there is desire to create some sort of plug-in similar to Disqus for Steemit, to where you could just copy a few lines a code to add the option for voting/commenting on the blockchain from your personal site. I wonder how that's supposed to work with the comments going dead in 20 days.

Good! Still 30 days is too little in my opinion.

Yeah, I get ya but I'm sure there are good reasons for it. I just can't think of any at the moment :)

I would love to know good reasons because I can't imagine myself having to explain to a potential user this restriction.

Well, this has a lot to do with computer sorting, block-chain size, and block-chain replaying.

If you want to get a post, and all of its comments, then you only have to search a 30 day block of time.

And Piston.web is a toolkit that allows manipulation of the blockchain.
You could easily write a comment thing into any webpage with it.

I find that comments 24 hours after posting are really useless. They fall on deaf ears. Not many people go back and search old stuff.

Thanks for taking the time to try to explain!

The whole post is locked after 30 days. You can't edit any part of it.
In dealing with bulletin boards in the past, some person would get upset, and delete everything of theirs. This would stop that.

But, I think it has more to do with the old part of the block chain becoming solid and non-changing and thus making it all easier to work with. Especially when a new server comes online and has to verify the entire block chain.

interesting that you would mention that.
since hardly anyone looks at what is posted (page views)
the curation bots should NOT care if I start reposting my old stuff.

and if they DO care...they're bots...
you hear me cheetah?

Cheetah always tells me when I post something on here that I already posted on my website. HAHA

If you post this twice he will lol

I'll get him a bowl of milk.
I'm thinking that stuff I posted months ago need to be reposted.
If 're-steem' is ok...why not 're-post'?
