DC's Black Lightning TV series begins January 16th
With all of the justified hype around the release of Marvel's Black Panther February 16th it's fallen off the radar that DC has a new series coming into the rotation on CW which also hosts the DC comics series' The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow.
Black Lightning takes off on January 16th and should be an exciting ride like most of the other DC comics television series. The CW productions are starkly different from Netflix comic productions (Luke Cage, Daredevil etc.) in that the former are geared towards a broader audience with less overt violence and more family related story lines. Black Lightning will follow the same formula as Jefferson Pierce (BL's non-super hero persona) struggles to balance family life, his job as a principal, and his responsibilities to protect his community. Pierce has two daughters that have inherited some of his super powers and have also developed some talents of their own. As Thunder and Lightning, they help their father fight crime. Below is a leaked photo of Thunder's crime fighting suit.
