Contests on Steemit are weird.    Having held one once long ago that no one redeemed the prize (you can view that 11 month old post here, I still have that prize near me right now, get at me @kidsysco!).   @nickmorphew just had one for an Old Man Logan comic with no entry!   Yet, here I go going to attempt to give away something neat.    Having gone to MegaCon last week, still going through so many photos, I forgot I did get a couple things signed specifically with just this Steemit blog in mind.

Bane Conquest #1 Signed by Chuck Dixon

For the prize here I thought something a little special for the #comics nerds of Steemit.   So yeah, we all knew him well before Venom played him awkwardly interestingly in The Dark Knight Rises.   Back even before he was in the cinematic masterpiece that was Batman & Robin.  A team of writer Chuck Dixon and artist Graham Nolan came up with a villain for Batman who really already had the top rogues gallery of any comic character (*maybe* Spider-Man compares) and needed no more classic characters, yet here we are with the bad ass known as Bane.   To emphasize that point a little more, I think Harley Quinn just came out not even a full year before Bane in Batman the Animated Series.  Damn Batman, let the rest of DC get some memorable villains.

Since that time, years have passed, the aforementioned movies came and went, and somehow the stars aligned and Chuck and Graham were together again last year to do a series for DC Comics starring their creation Bane.  Having met Chuck Dixon at MegaCon, he happily signed the comic, and I am pretty sure he didn't charge me, and I am pretty sure I won't charge you either.   On top of the Bane creator signing the above book, I will let you know it is also the variant cover version of the issue featuring art by bad ass classic Batman and Bane artist Kelley Jones (see: Bane breaking Batman back iconic comic book cover here)

So sure, it isn't Bane's first appearance here people, but it is a cool piece of comic history in it's own right, plus you aren't having to pay!
