Another month, another Previews catalog. Here are my recommendations and thoughts for the March 2019 Previews catalog for items generally shipping in May of 2019. The @campuscomicscast will be discussing this issue of Previews in an upcoming #podcast which should be posted to your favorite #podcast app around Friday March 8, 2019. DC

On the inside cover, DC announces they are going to make the DC Previews orderable as a separate item. Some retailers have reported an issue with buyers only wanting the DC Previews and it not being available separately from the main Previews catalog.

2 - Batman: Last Knight on Earth 1. New Black label story for Batman with work by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. The cover is pretty interesting and features Batman carrying a lantern that appears to be the Joker's head. Three issue prestige format bi-monthly series.

4 - DC's Year of the Villain 1. More Bendis from DC with this 25 cent premier issue, similar to the DC Nation book from last year. There is a 1:100 Artgerm variant, along with additional variants by Alex Maleev and Jim Cheung.

6 - Deceased 1. 6 issue searies about a techno-virus affecting the Earth. This book has a definite Walking Dead/Apocalypse feel to it.

8 - Batman and the Outsiders 1. This book gets a resolicit after being cancelled several months ago. With the CW Black Lightning show being so good, Black Lightning needs a spot in the DC Universe, so this is where he will be for awhile.

10 - Deathstroke 43 - The finale to the crossover with Teen Titans, the Terminus Agenda.

11 - Teen Titans 30 - Epilogue to the crossover with Deathstroke, The Terminus Agenda. This crossover did not run as long as I suspected.

12 - Heroes in Crisis 9 - Final issue of this story from Tom King. I was not impressed with the first issue. I will probably grab the trade and read it when I find it on sale.

14 - Superman: Leviathan Rising Special 1 - Not so interested in this title, but it mentions there will be an upcoming Jimmy Olsen series written by Matt Fraction. I don't know if I want to buy a Jimmy Olsen comic or not, but Matt Fraction writing is a definite plus.

20 - Batman 70 - OK, Thomas Wayne, the Flashpoint Batman is showing up. He was hinted at in issue 50 of the series.

23 - Batman: Damned 3 - How many times has this book been resolicited? Anyway, if you want to read it, it may be available in May.

32 - Doomsday Clock 11 - We are finally getting close to the finally. We are teased with the "truth" behind the DC Rebirth.

34 - Flash 70 - Barry Allen gets his "Year One" treatment.

62 - Terrifics 16 - I think this is the last of the "New Age of DC Heroes" line and it is NOT being solicited with a final issue tag, yet.

70 - Batman: Damned hardcover - So, the question everyone will be asking, will the Bat-Wang be censored? This is a VERY early solicit for September of 2019.

71 - Batman: Year One - This classic Batman story by Miller gets a Black Label trade paperback.

74 - Detective Comics 100 Deluxe Edition hardcover - Another edition of Detective 1000, with a new story by Robert Venditti. I think this is a cheap move by DC to try and get a few more bucks out of Batman fans to add maybe 8 pages to a $20 comic.

Marvel

Marvel is dominated this month by War of the Realms. With Jason Aaron writing, I should be more excited about it than I am. There are just way too many books being included in the story. 25 comics are listed for this month on the checklis on page 6.

34 - Immortal Hulk 17 - I have not been reading this title, but so many people are talking about it, I probably should pick it up in trade.

36 - True Believers - A couple of $1 reprint books that I think worth mentioning are Marvel Premiere 19 with the first appearance of Colleen Wing, Marvel Premiere 21 with the first appearance of Misty Knight, Power Pack #1, Web of Spiderman 31 with the first part of the Kraven's Last Hunt storyline.

38 - Star Wars 108 - Marvel is going to continue the original Star Wars story line with this legacy issue 108.

43 - Spiderman: Life Story 3 - Looks like the 1980s are going to take a closer look at Kraven's Last Hunt.

69 - X-Men: Grand Design - XTinction #1 - Ed Piskor presents his take on the XTinction storyline.

71 - Major X 4 - OK, Liefeld has to be screwing with us now. 10 characters on the cover and not a single set of feet.

111 - Spiderman Noir: The Complete collection - Into the Spiderverse fans can pick up the complete Spiderman Noir stories.

Previews - Side One

30 - Previews Catalog - Don't forget to order yours so you can play along at home.

46 - Excellence 1 - New action fantasy series set in a world of Magic. I am going to give this book a try this month.

52 - Gogor 1 - Just pointing this book out to those who like to get all the Image first issues in case one title becomes the next Walking Dead. I personally think Excellence 1 looks better of the two first issues this month.

59 - East of West 43 - The final story arc begins with this issue.

70 - Die Volume 1 trade - Issues 1 to 5 of the series are collected here. If you were a fan of the first Dungeon & Dragons cartoon, this is a more grown-up take on a similar concept.

71 - MCMLXXV trade - I enjoyed the first issue of this series about a New York cabbie with an enchanted tire iron. I did not realize it was only 3 issues. I should have just bought it monthly.

104 - Stranger Things: Six 1 - A prequel story for the Stranger Things series.

108 - William Gibson's Alien 3 hardcover - Collects the complete series of an unused original screenplay for the third Alien movie.

135 - Hellboy Deluxe Flask Set - I am not a drinker, but this is a nice looking set with a faux leather exterior to the flask and two stainless steel shot glasses.

174 - Marvel Masterwork Pin-ups - 120 pages of Silver Age pin-ups from Kirby, Ditko, Steranko and more.

194 - Altered Carbon: Download Blues hardcover - New story set in Netflix's Altered Carbon universe. Available in both a signed and unsigned edition.

250 - Five Years 1 - Terry Moore brings his various books into a shared universe with a new story. I just started reading Strangers in Paradise. It is pretty good. I still prefer Rachel Rising, but I will definitely be picking this book up monthly.

268 - Wrong Earth Volume 1 - Collects the first story arc of the surprising Wrong Earth series.

358 - Rick and Morty 50 - The series based on the popular tv show reaches issues 50.

380 - Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor 8 - I have been enjoying this series. I was surprised to learn it is only selling about 6500 copies a month.

383 - Philosophy of Deadpool - At least it isn't a Wisdom of Deadpool book, because that would be another of those blank books like the Wisdom of Lobo.

389 - Fallen World 1-5 Preorder Edition bundle - Special preorder bundle available to comic shops only. This is a good move from Valiant.

393 - NinjaK Dollar Debut - Valiant joins the $1 reprints with the first issue of Ninja-K. Also offering Britannia 1 for $1.

Previews - Side Two

37 - DC Comics by Jim Shore Figurines - This guy is primarily known for tacky statues you order off of QVC for Christmas. Not sure why DC has him doing statues. I am scared my mother is going to learn about these and I am going to have to figure out someplace to display them after Christmas this year.

102 - Marvel Felt Letterboard Wall Art - $17 for a felt letter board that is 13 x 17.5". The art is nice. Does not indicate if it includes the letter or not. Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-man.

104 - DC Heroes Felt Letterboard Wall Art - Batman, Flash, Superman, Wonder Woman
