Here is my copy of one of the toughest books out there. This book was used in the SOTI trials (seduction of the innocent). They basically testified before Congress that comic books were depraving our children.

The outcome was the comic approval authority code. That's why these books are considered "pre-code". This is one of the books that were used in the trials to show how depraved comics had become.

The outcome of the trials hurt EC comics beyond repair, and led to a reinvention of the super hero comic: the Silver Age.

Although, I'm a bigger fan of these Atom Age pre-code horrors myself!
