The US Army released comics about cyberwar

in #comedy7 years ago

The Institute of Cybernetics of the US Army at West Point published a series of educational comics showing the features of conducting cyberwar warfare. The training series included four comics Dark Hammer, Silent Ruin, Engineering a traitor and 11.25.2027 ("November 25, 2027").

Mostly the comics show the damage that can be caused by cyber technology to the troops. For example, in the comic book "Silent Death" the scenario of unification of Romania and Moldova is considered. In response to the formation of this union, Russia begins large-scale exercises on the border. On the territory of the united countries, NATO troops begin their exercises.

The story ends with the beginning of a military conflict, in which Russian troops first use electronic warfare systems, disabling unmanned NATO systems. Then the Russian side violates the communication and data exchange system. Disorganized because of a lack of communication, NATO troops are losing the war, and Russian forces are approaching the US consulate.

In turn, the comic "Constructing a traitor" tells about the fate of Jake Roberts, an excellent student in the training of military engineers, who after studying for outstanding services took the Engineer Troops immediately in an officer's rank. Roberts has an excellent track record.

As the plot develops, some spies attempt to recruit Roberts. To do this, they hack into various systems, where the data about the engineer are stored and change them. As a result, in electronic records about Roberts there is defamatory information and negative characteristics. These records are taken by the management of Roberts and his relatives at face value.

Roberts is fired from the armed forces, he is alone and loses the meaning of life. In the hope of regaining his former position, he turns to his friend for help, not knowing that he is one of the participants in the spy network. A friend suggests that Roberts take revenge on the offenders and give him access to the technical rooms of one of the buildings in Houston.

This story ends with the rocket bombardment of a building in Houston, six months after which the investigation recognizes Roberts as the organizer of this attack.

In the history of the Dark Hammer, American troops provide protection and evacuation of the population of South Korea from the zone of military conflict with North Korea. DPRK troops in this conflict actively use autonomous combat systems and press the American and South Korean military.

In response, US Army cyber experts crack North Korean military communications systems and launch the "Dark Hammer" virus. He violates the exchange of data and replaces the target designation of North Korean combat robots that attack the troops of the DPRK.

The use of comic books as educational literature is widely used in the armed forces of the United States and some other countries in the world since the 1930s. It is believed that such a method of filing in an interesting form allows soldiers to quickly learn important information.
