Colourful Milkweed Colony

Common Milkweed

These colourful Common Milkweed plants bloom in the summer and the flower clusters are in various shades of pink. They are the host plants for the beautiful Monarch butterflies. When the flowers are gone seed pods form and crack open in late summer or early fall. The wind disperses the seeds which are attached to silky white hairs. The three feet tall, hardy milkweed plants have a wonderful fragrance and spread like wildflowers.

Where did you get these pictures. I would love to have milkweed like this on my property. I tried to transplant some but didn't work.

East coast, about a 6 hour drive from where you are. That is all I am going to say about that. : )
Transplanting hardly ever works. The pods are getting ready to crack open so make sure to look for them and get some seeds. That will definitely work.
