ginger abstract
Here I am trying my hand at editing again.
I had a very bad camera day yesterday – not one of my photos was in focus. I'm perplexed as to the why, what happened question.
Coloring with pencils has always proven relaxing for me and I now I find satisfaction with digital art as well.
So, today I will reset and get out there again before the big storm arrives. We are getting the tail end of Alberto. I'll try to photograph a walk around my neighborhood.
I love my photo of this woman. She was checking out her purchases at the local nursery. Her beautiful ginger hair and purple top fit into the setting and was the thing that caught my eye.
Each edit changes the mood in the photo. Do you see it?
I stalked her in the grocery store:
her crown of snowy braids held in place by a great silver clip,
her erect bearing, radiating tenderness...
beaming peace like the North Star.
I wanted to ask,
"What aisle did you find your serenity in,
do you know how to be married for fifty years or how to live alone,
"Excuse me for interrupting,
but you seem to possess
some knowledge that makes the earth turn and burn on its axis—"
But we don't request such things from strangers
nowadays. So I said,
"I love your hair."

I like the black and white photo. Nice try with your editing. :)
Thanks so much !! Glad you liked it.
She brings the colour that is for sure. I had a bit of gunk on my lens one day and only noticed when I went to edit. It happens. Love the funkyedits, Deb, Particularly the second one.
Maybe I'll take a look at my lenses and give them a cleaning. You liked the second one eh? She looks very sad in that one in particular. The texture is interesting at any rate :) Thanks Pryde.
It was the texture that I loved ... I was rather fond of the original too:)
Interesting effects. I like that one that looks sort of like burlap or crross-stitch. The secon one almost looks like she's got spaghetti hair :-) The first one is sort of a nice impressionist look.
Good luck with the storm!
Yup ... that's a burlap layer. Cool eh? I would have liked the burlap one better if I could control some of the opacity of it. There is too much red on her nose like the ScareCrow from the Wizard of Oz.
I agree the second one looks like spaghetti head. I wasn't a fan of that effect but my husband loved it so I posted it as well. A few other people enjoyed it as well. Something for everyone :)
We didn't end up with Alberto - it was pushed north of us.....we had warnings about downpours and possible flooding and high winds for 3 days. We got a bit of rain during the night but that's it.
Very cool indeed!
Glad you liked it!!
Your is probably something on the camera Mine is usually me. :)
But, I am learning. Slowly. Sort of like Steeming. Slow. Steady. Rinse. Repeat.
I really love the thumbnail that you posted. The red is such a nice funky touch to an already cool shot. The last one, au natural is rather delightful, and wow, what a difference an edit makes!
(Oh, I didn't forget you asked about that edit! I need to write it down)
I figured it out. My thumb hit the manual/auto switch on the lens. So of course I wouldn't be able to focus. I never did clean the lens..I should do that too. So much to think about....life is so hard for us....oy.
Thanks @dswigle. :)
I know! It's all in those pesky details! I never thought I would have to angst over stuff like this!
Oy, indeed! @countrygirl
I like the first photo. Well done
Thank you @trendygran.
That's an interesting exercise.
I really like the second edit... the color palette and treatment of the background... by turning all the busy objects into organic shapes and colors it becomes a much more coherent image.
Was this done using a Van Gogh inspired art filter?
I'm not sure what it was called @edward.maesen. I don't think this app used painters names. I only used it twice and didn't notice. :)
You can check it out and see.....it takes about 10 minutes for an application to complete - and you can play with some of the settings. I put most of them at 40-50% because I didn't want too much drama.

You have to sign up for it - it's free. And if you don't like it, like I didn't, you have to email them to delete your account.
Oh interesting, I hadn't heard of that Deep Dream Generator software before.
It is really amazing how you are able to edit these shots and create totally diffferent effects. I love it, she did look quite serene. I hope your weather clears soon. :)
We ended up not getting the big storm we were warned about all day for two days!!! lol....isn't that the way. Warnings about floods and high winds etc. And nothing. We got a few drops but no show. I love a good storm too.
Hope you are almost at your destination!
Yes, I see the mood change. In the second one she almost looks sad, whereas the rest she doesn't.
Funny to think you are getting Alberto. I suppose we do share some things despite our distance :)
Yes, we share air and rain and water.....it's strange when I think that the rain coming is from the gulf. Very strange.
The second one does look sad, maybe the texture emphasized her folds....I don't know. It's fun playing. My fav was the first one bc it looked festive, sort of how she looked in person.
