Orange City of India - Nagpur
Nagpur is the largest city in central India and the second capital of the state of Maharashtra. It is also known as “Santranagri”. It is famous for the Nagpur Orange and is known as the "Orange City" for being a major trade centre of oranges cultivated in the region.
For centuries, Nagpur has been famous for its orange gardens in the country, hence the name "Orange City". Orange cultivation has been expanding and it is the biggest marketplace for oranges in the country. Over 70 % of the oranges in India come from Nagpur.
In the season (Nov to Feb), you will find oranges in large quantity & all the sizes and everywhere in the Nagpur. Oranges is main attraction for Rail-yatries at Nagpur station platforms. Nagpur climate is favourable for Orange cultivation and these are supplied all over India from Nagpur. Nagpur Oranges has created a huge market in the rest of the world also. It have great export market.
You will also find Orange sweet at most of sweet shops in Nagpur. Haldiram is one of famous sweet shop for Orange sweets of different varieties.
Nagpur is having lot of orange gardens and you can have a picnic at Orange garden and have fresh oranges & at a very cheap rates.
In Nagpur, people love to have orange juice instead of water. That’s what make Nagpur a 'ORANGE CITY.'
