Holi is the one of the best ever festival for Hindu . It starteds at evening of purnima ( Full moon day ) . Holi is celebrated in the month of Falgun (February-March ) in the calender on Falgun purnima . People believe that holi brings lots of happiness & joy . Holi symbolises victory of our higher aspirations over our lower , base desires . It is the burning of our petty , material desires at the altar of our goal of self-development . It stands for the victory of good for evil , a theme that runs through Holi is an ancient Hindu religious festival which has become popular with non-Hindus in many parts of South Asia , as well as people of other communities outside Asia . In recent years the festival has spread to parts of Europe and North America as a spring celebration of love , frolic , and colours . People believe that by Holi brings lots of joy , It also celebrates that thanks giving for good harvest . In occasion for holi people forget all bad memories and we can call that reunion day with those people that were enemies of past time . In Holi people wear white dress and smear each other with colors and drench each other . Water guns and water-filled balloons are also used to play and colour each other . Anyone and everyone is fair game , friend or stranger , rich or poor , man or woman , children and elders . The frolic and fight over colours occurs in the open streets , open parks , outside temples and buildings . Groups carry drums and other musical instruments , go from place to place , sing and dance and that time many events organize where people play holi with full of music , dance in pool with live concert by famous singers and celebety. Nowdays people organize pre-holi celebration program also. People visit family , friends and foes to throw coloured powders on each other , laugh and gossip then share Holi delicacies , food and drinks .
