Peacock spreading his beautiful wings!
Hello Steemians! I hope you are having a wonderful time with your loved ones this long weekend :)
Yesterday my fiance and I went to a walk with our loving dogs in the nearest zoo in our city. While we are enjoying our walks my Shih Tzu suddenly freaked out! We were surprised when we saw this peacock with his feather widely opened. haha
It was so beautiful so I took a photo of it to show it to you. According to my research, this peacock is an Indian Peacock called Peafowl. It has iridescent blue and green plumage, mostly metallic blue and green. Peacock is properly reserved for male, the female is known as Peahen while the immature offspring are sometimes called Peachicks. Peacocks spread their wings to attract peahen(female). When the peahen observes a peacock spreading his feathers, she chooses whether he's a suitable mate for her. It is said that peafowl that have a bigger tail and the more eyespots have the better chance of attracting more mates as they found the quality of his tail irresistible. Peafowl can actually live up to 10-25 years.
